One obvious flaw the Chat GPT is that, like most AI, Chat GPT does not "go out and look". MOST data in Chat GPT is at least 6 months old. One way you can check this is by asking it about things that are very recent. To give a neutral example you can ask it about something like World of Warcraft that recently patched (august) and it won't know about that because it is too recent. So the idea that it knows what is trending for Christmas 2024 doesn't make sense. It won't know that data until June of 2025.

True, but it does have access to yearly data which can reflect buying habits that can allow it and you to make pretty good guesses about what could be trending. Generally, the more data any seller collects about buyers in a specific niche and their habits, the more you'll be able to recognise patterns and offer them what they want, when they want it.
