We did these when I was a kid, so when I found shrinky dinks at Dollar Tree, I bought them for us to do at a family holiday. My sister in law had never seen them before and she thought it was so much fun. Last year when the pandemic hit, I sent a bunch to her from Amazon. She was so excited. They had so much fun with them while quarantined.

I usually use a laser printer when printing on acetate, plastic, transparencies and anything shiny. Since it’s toner, it’s adheres better and is dry. An inkjet or deskjet printer usually smears and takes a long time to dry. Love the pink shrink paper and your word/name hang tags. So cute. TFS

I used shrink plastic for scripture years ago. I punched a hole in them and shrunk by using the heat gun. I had verses from The Bible and attached them to cards I made which I had printed the same verse on, punched a hole and threaded my shrink plastic verse on to. That way when the card was finished with people could keep the little shrunken one........I thoroughly enjoyed doing this.

When my Cricut won't read the registration marks because the sheet is too shiny, I place matte finish cello tape (I used Scotch Magic Tape) over the registration marks. That knocks down the glare. I saw that suggestion on another You Tube video and tried it. It worked great for glossy label sheets, so maybe it will work for the shrink film. Thanks for the video, I was having trouble with understanding how the shrink film worked and this helps a lot. They are adorable!

@LollyPalooza What if you try affixing the shirk plastic in a smaller dimension to a normal piece of paper in a way that the position markers that cameo uses would be printed on the paper portion and the images on the shrink plastic. (hope this makes sense) Hopefully, it would then have marks that are clear enough while still cutting the images on the plastic. Possibly a way to outsmart the machine :)

Could a heat tool be used to dry it faster?
@Grianan66
@Grianan66 3 жыл бұрын
A heat tool can be used, but you have to make sure the pieces don't fly away. If your design has a hole like these, I usually put my pointy tool inside the hole to keep them mostly steady. If there is no hole in your design (ex. for magnets,) it's a bit trickier - be sure that if you are using something to hold it down, that you don't mar the surface while it's hot and soft. Using a small box to hold your piece can work, but again, be careful not to let it fly out of the box. Hope that helps! :)
@LollyPalooza
@LollyPalooza 3 жыл бұрын
I use a heat tool on smaller items, as you can see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3iofGZ5rd1_mtU The small items heat quickly and evenly, whereas the larger items require a little more work -- holding the item down with a paper piercer or a tool through the hole. It helps to place the item in a small (NOT large) box with sides to catch it from flying around. You'll also have to "wave" the heat tool around the item to get even heat.

Hi, firstly loved the video!! I tried printing on the shrink prink sheets on the frosted side with an inkjet printer. But for some reason it didn't print anything at all the first time. And didn't go in the printer the second time. Are there any specific printer guidelines/settings to follow while printing?
@LollyPalooza
@LollyPalooza 2 жыл бұрын
ooh, I am not sure why you're having this issue. I did not change any printer settings. It is a strange material that some printers aren't happy with pulling through the gears. As for not printing, I would try flipping it over the other way next time, to make sure it wasn't an error of feeding it in the wrong way.
