Should one pay twice for priority pass access via card fees and at the point if access? No I don't believe in being charged twice for one purchase.

I have had the situation a couple times where a lounge was full and they took my number to text me when they had space. I'd be annoyed if I pre-paid and the lounge was almost empty when I got there. It should only charge you if they aren't providing immediate entry.

I think that companies like Amex and Chase might make it so if your booking through their portal they'll ask if you want to reserve lounge space and if you do you're guaranteed entry otherwise it's on a first come first serve basis. Thus bringing more value to using their portal.

I have no problem making a reservation, but paying for lounge access then having to pay again to be able to use it is BS. IMO flying from SFO often Priority Pass isn't really worth it. Depending on your flight time if flying from "A" you'll likely be turned away, in "G" you have no lounges. PP is only really usable in SFO if your traveling on the airline operating the lounge. In Asia PP is great, in the US honestly it kinda sucks.

Convenience always comes at a cost.. the future will be another tier level with a higher fee… After visiting Heathrow’s British airways lounge last week I would pay for another quieter space happily.. BA lounge was a level of bedlam on par with the main concourse..
