For anyone curious, I believe this film is based on Priscilla's own memoir, and she approves of this movie. I'm sure at least a few people are wondering if this sort of biopic is still ethical, but this one at least is.

Sofia Coppola movies are often focuses on female gaze, loneliness, girlhood, and womanhood which makes her absolutely perfect to tell this story. As a huge fan of her work, i can't wait to see this movie. Sofia rarely miss 🙌

Saw the movie, it was so so so deeply meaningful to see this story being told with such a spotlight as someone who lived a similar experience at 14. We constantly hear stories and see headlines of these rock stars/adult men in music pursuing young teenage girls, and their stories are never told, their names never heard, their feelings never talked about. This looks SO GOOD. The narrative decision to centre this on Priscilla's POV (I think it's based on her autobiography?) is a stroke of genius. I've never been much of an Elvis fan, but I'm finding myself genuinely excited to watch this one. I think in Coppola's hands the humanity of the characters (based on real people) will be far more nuanced & won't shy away from the darkness in the story. & these actors are absolutely nailing it from what I've seen.

Priscilla has had a very glamorous life. She's an actress, after all. I'm not suggesting that she's never suffered pain and loss, she definitely has. But she's fully ensconced in the Hollywood world. She's often come across as selfish and greedy, especially in the case of her daughter's estate. She took the estate and her granddaughter to court. For the last 40+ years, she's overseen the Elvis Presley estate and was the driving force behind saving it from bankruptcy in the beginning. For that, I'm grateful. But her greed is showing and the fact that the Estate didn't approve of this movie says a lot! They wouldn't allow Copola to use Elvis's music at all. This film is said to be very dark. Highlighting Elvis's temper could be its downfall, and Priscilla's last act, so-to-speak. We'll see.

Priscilla is an incredible sophisticated film expertly directed by the very talented Sofia Coppola. The cinematography is amazing and the viewer is provided with so many beautiful scenes. The film is an intimate look into the relationship between the worlds most iconic singer Elvis and his wife Priscilla. It's like the viewer is in between each sentence that is uttered from the couple. You really feel like your right there experiencing exactly how the relationship was going. Jacob Elordi who plays Elvis does very well in showing both his flaws and his nice qualities. Cailee Spaeny who plays Priscilla is exceptional. She has an incredible presence and throughout the film has many moments where her beautiful face expresses clearly what she feels with no dialogue at all. UNMISSABLE.

Don't go watching this expecting the character of Elvis to look anything like him..we all knew about his moods but I think very few of us especially those who haven't read the book by Priscilla which this movie is based on...in fact at one point she looks as younger at the end as she did at the beginning..all in all if you love tragic love stories, this is one..and the Seperate ways lyrics drop in their conversation was a touch of genius.

Lisa Marie said in an email that the script seemed “vengeful”. She didn’t approve of the tone of this film before she passed. On the one hand, it says, Presley can tell the media that she feels "vindicated" by the result of her lawsuit. On the other, Grant will not have to pay a cent in damages provided he never discusses her again in public. Furthermore, while Grant can no longer claim to have had sex with Presley (even though he did) , she will no longer accuse him of attempted rape and will pay him $15,000 for pictures that he took took when she was a teenager. This is Priscilla's story about her marriage, not sugar coated. Elvis was a great humanitarian, entertainer, captivating on stage and of stage but as a husband he could have done a better job. He liked his women young so he could mold them he did the same thing with his last girlfriend Ginger who always wore make-up even in bed cause Elvis liked it that way and other wise she looked like a kid he said. Elvis was not the same husband after she had a baby, right after that he went to Vegas and started his 3,5 year affair with Joyce Bova he told Joyce he and Priscilla had an open marriage except Priscilla didn't know about that LOL. But it must have been very lonely for Priscilla one time they were on the road for 9 months on a row according to Charlie Hodge and Elvis missed home and he got all sentimental when he heard Green Grass of Home playing on the radio. He requested it to play again and again. I think the song You were always on my mind right after his divorce Elvis thought of Priscilla while singing the song😢

I’ve read her book so many times. I loved the 1988 movie. Looks like this one is going more in depth. I love Elvis. I’ve been to Graceland 8 times. Sounds crazy? He was an still is so electrifying. She has a right to tell her story and it’s one that deserves to be told in the best possible way. He would literally make her walk around the house balancing a book on her head. Would tap her forehead, if she crinkled it. She lived to please him an did whatever he said because she loved him and didn’t want to lose him. I hate that some are so negative towards Priscilla. She was 14, just setting in a local hangout in Germany. When Currie Grant comes up to her an asked if she liked Elvis Presley? What’s the odds? It was meant to be. Things were different back then. We’re talking about 1959. The world has changed

This story is telling exactly how young girl in love feels and how young adolescent man act when not faithful. Movie gives an echo of honesty and simplicity. I adored it was shot from Priscilla's perspective, filled with quietness, waiting, while he was living all noise and spectacle. In any moment I didn't see him being represented in any disrespectful manner, in all of his falls we see a human we can also empathize with. Watching this movie is as entering an enchanted fairytale, it has it's own pace, sort of calming effect, composed with heart wrenching and butterflies moments. Costumes were spectacular, identical to those on original photographs, acting, directing, sound, all of it. Him throwing her suitcase as an ultimatum and her crying on the floor and being sorry for expressing her needs and rights reminded me of some of those fragile and unrepairable but realistic moments. Woman for woman. Thank you Sofia and Priscilla for creating it. 🌹

Personally I think this movie looks great. Cinematography wise and acting wise everything is top notch, but what I can’t take seriously is the nuances of this story. Pricilla Presley is NOTORIOUS for switching her narrative whenever it benefits her. Following Elvis’ death she was in full support of him and upholding his name, but began writing the Elvis & Me book after she realized it would garner a lot of traction into the “private life” of Elvis. But soon after she retracted a lot of her statements made in the book and on some occasions even flat out implied she was never groomed by Elvis. She then went straight back to being in full support of Elvis to support the movie which would grant her a lot of money, but now that she’s getting a film made about her, her opinions on Elvis is slowly shifting back to anti-Elvis message. I’m not saying that these events didn’t have or could’ve happened, but to me Pricilla is a VERY unreliable narrator. I hate to see a guy get his reputation tarnished when he’s not even alive to defend himself. There are numerous people who can attest to Elvis being a good man who suffered a lot from depressing during the later and even earlier moments in his life. What I think is funny about this trailer is the whole bit about Pricilla saying she didn’t like the makeup and Elvis being all evil about it, but Pricilla has stated before when addressing the indirect comments about grooming where she said she really liked the makeup and thought it made her look pretty. She did note how it was more or less in Elvis’ style, but he probably did that because he liked them to be matching. I think is hilarious how people connect this to “grooming” like no couple is history has ever gone out in matching clothing. Also about the age thing, yes Pricilla was 14 and he was 24 but Pricilla commented how their first couple interactions were nothing more than a fan meeting her idol. Elvis only did so because she was the daughter of one of his officers when he was in the army. Elvis was even in a relationship at the time with an actress. Pricilla complained about Elvis not returning her letters because at the time he really didn’t have an attraction to her. It was only after her parents pushed and Elvis’ friends pushed that they finally began getting closer. Elvis set many boundaries between himself and Pricilla because he did know there was a big age gap between the two. By some accounts Elvis didn’t even want to be in the relationship but his manager Colonel Parker thought it would be good publicity for Elvis to have a beautiful woman by his side. So really in my opinion both were being played by people much older than the both of them.

Not at all. That is NOT what happened. And its DEFINITELY NOT GROOMING. Elvis never invited Priscilla to his party. In fact SHE FCKED a soldier just to get access Elvis' party and was snuck in. Then... the ONLY eyewitness evidence we have was them SPEAKING. We have ZERO eyewitnesses or evidence of Elvis having ANY INTEREST in Priscilla. No touching. No kissing. No sex. No Grooming. Not that day. Not that YEAR. In fact --- they didn't even GO OUT until she was 18... which was TWO YEARS after the AGE OF CONSENT in the US at that point.
