I like your camera angle. So often with a right handed demonstrer, the view is obscured but I can clearly see all of your demo. These are my favorite pencils for animal drawings particularly because they hold their point so well and for the many brands I've used, are without equal when drawing hair or fine detail. I guess their is a little bit of a learning curve to them but I found them worth the effort.

+Madeline Brownlee Thank you so much! My camera position is a never ending challenge but I keep trying to improve with each new video. The Verithins are so great for doing those fine line details. I'm not sure I've seen a comparable coloured pencil. I've started using Fabre-Castell Polychromos but I still use the Verithins for the fine details. Thanks for checking out the video! 😊

I'm sorry you had trouble with the video. I appreciate your comment though and your honesty - I'm constantly looking to improve my setup and filming quality, and hopefully a new tripod this year should help with what you described. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks a lot for the great unboxing and demonstration. It's nice to see how hard these pencils are and how much of a sharp point they can keep. I actually thought it was only the Premiers that suffered from the breakage issue, but it seems that even the Verithins suffer from this issue. Did you have trouble sharpening any of the other pencils in the set? I feel like getting this set to try out, the price is quite affordable too but the breakage indeed seems to be an annoying issue.
@LeanneLandArt8 жыл бұрын
+Noxmoony Thanks! I haven't sharpened the whole set but I find it's hit and miss. It seems like the more complex colours to manufacture (like the ultramarine blues and the golds) are the ones that are more prone to breakage. Standard yellows/reds/oranges all seem to be fine. They are pretty affordable though and I find they're useful especially for colouring detail or small spaces. When I'm colouring small areas I find myself reaching for these.

HI! NEW subscriber here. I am working on a very detailed art project where I am utilizing a lot of my my Prismacolor Verithin pencils. I am using them where the items are small, and where I also do not want them to blend, as the Verithins don't blend well which is the desired result. The set is only a 36 piece set and I found myself wishing the set has more colors in it, as they really hold a point REAL well, and still have vibrant colors. Can you suggest any other pencils that would work the same as Verithins, and or offer more colors? The Polychromos do hold hold a point better, but not as well as the Verithins. I saw on the internet that the Verithins are going to be dis-continued, which is very disappointing. Like you said in your video, they sharpen to such a sharp point you can actually score the paper. I LOVE these pencils for what they were designed for.

Thanks for subscribing! 😊 You’re right, the Verithins are so good at holding a point and getting those precise details. I’d also heard they were going to be discontinued and sadly I haven’t come across anything nearly as comparable. Hopefully Prismacolor does offer a new equivalent. I think there’s definitely space in the art supply world for something similar. Fingers crossed that they do!

I have the prismacolor premier set.. I love them!!! They blend so nice. Just have to find a better sharpener though. Xo

+fern bainbridge I'm happy to hear you like them! I picked up a few single Prismacolor Premiere's from Michaels and I do love colouring with them, they blend sooo nicely! I seen a recommendation for the Palomino Blackwing pencil sharpener, but I haven't tried it yet.

In Canada I have heard pencil crayons once. Also Prismacolor does have some pencils in a tin, however, not the most expensive full set. They are in a cardboard box with a magnetic closure. Shame on Prismacolor! Some companies are offering wooden box at cost. I love the verithin pencils. No problem sharpening with an electric sharpener. Less sharpening. They keep their point very well.
@LeanneLandArt5 жыл бұрын
I’m glad to hear the electric sharpener is working for the Verithins! I will have to give that a try. For the most part they have been pretty good and they’re so great for fine detail.

I'm looking for a colored pencil for hand lettering that is erasable if mistakes are made but does not smudge once laid down. Do the Verithins accomplish this?
@LeanneLandArt2 жыл бұрын
I'm not for certain that the Verithins are erasable. I know that Prismacolor does make coloured pencils that are erasable although I don't believe there's a very wide variety of colours, just the typical red/blue, etc. I don't find that the Verithins smudge, they're a pretty hard lead so there's not a lot of movement from them once they're on the paper. I hope this helps. 😊

Here it is 2019, do you still use these pencils. I believe I bought these a year ago and because every time I sharpened them the point fell out. I just took them out of my drawer again and still the lead is breaking and I have tried 3 non electric sharpeners, one being a Kim which is metal, also tried the prisma and no such luck. I am so disappointed in these pencils.
@LeanneLandArt4 жыл бұрын
I understand your frustration. For some reason the Prismacolor coloured pencils just seem to be so fragile. I do use the Verithins sometimes, but I have to be really careful with sharpening them and even then it’s not a guarantee it won’t break a few times in the process. I’ve switch over to using Faber Castel Polychromos which I love, but I haven’t found a good solution yet for the super fine tip coloured pencils outside of the Verathins. So for now I use them, but only when I have to.

I feel that the verithin led is rough and the premiere is soft.
@LeanneLandArt7 жыл бұрын
+Stevens Gem Universe You're exactly right. The Verithins are a harder lead so it allows you to get a more precise line but it's also not as creamy as the Premieres, which blend really nicely.

I suspect that they are scholars in a different....Dress 👗 also, I use a KUM sharpener and the derwent manual mini or the full size. These are the only sharpeners I use with prismacolor premiere.. zero breakage..
@majluke5 жыл бұрын
Leanne, get yourself mechanical derwent sharpener. I use it for colored pencils and it seldomly breaks the lead.
