I Use Prismacolor for Skintone and as a base color and i use Polychromos for the Details Prismacolor + Polychromos = POWERFUL

Hi Mark Jairon Viray I don't have a whole set of FC or luminance. I have been building them from open stock as and when I need them and actually this works out cheaper than buying a whole set. It also means you get the colours you need eg. i use a lot of white and skin tones so I can replace these as needed. There are quite a few places that sell them open stock now🎨 👍🏻👩🏻‍🎨

@@rugilelia46 Please let me know what you think - i would be interested to get your opinion - one is not necessarily better than the other they both have different qualities. FC is a hard pencil so is good for details whereas prismas are a wax based based pencil and are great for blending large areas - i hope you enjoy using your pencils 👩🏻‍🎨

I just can’t settle on what set to buy. I have a small set of Derwent lightfast wich I love but I’m not sure if they’re enough for detail and soft enough for larger areas… I own a few Ploychromos and really like them and a bigger set of Prisma wich don’t work well for my art ( Ido children book illustrations mostly). I’m between Luminance, Polys and lightfast. But I can only buy one larger and one medium set, not all three. I wonder what combinations would be best….

Hi Blossom Bunny - thank You for your message - firstly it depends on what type of work you do - If your work has a lot of detail in it, I would certainly go for the Polychromos as they keep their point for a longer period of time. The prismacolors are opaque and give vibrant colours and are really good for blending. Because I like both of these brands and caran d'ache but can't but buy all 3 sets, I have started to buy open stock of the colours I need, so I would recommend if you are not sure which brand you want to go for, to buy either a few colours open stock of the colours that you will use or a 12 set. So to begin with, I would buy a few of each and experiment with them to see which one is best for you. Good Luck 🎨 👩🏻‍🎨 👍🏻

I recently try the junior version of Prismacolor and I love that they have a hard formulation and are less pigmented. They have a 4 mm thickness so I prefer to make them sharp with a blade after the mechanical sharpener. Thanks for the content!

You shouldn't recommend the faber castell anniversary edition. These pencils aren't open stock and are completely different to the "real" polychromos. They got different names and different colors. You can't buy them as single pencils and therefore you can't restock them. Nothing for real artists.

Hi @zzador, thanks for watching and for feedback - when I made this video 2 years ago, the tin was cheaper than tin of polychromos and a way of trying out before committing to the larger box - just trying to find ways to help those on a budget as not everyone can afford the outlay of the complete set. TBH the tin has gone up in price now so would just recommend buying open stock of colours that are desired but I thank you for your feedback that is helpful and hope that you will keep tuned for future content👩🏻‍🎨.✨🎨
