The wild part about that Grist and Atraxa exchange is that Grist literally says it's a creature, "in addition to its other types." You don't even need to call a judge, you just need to read the card's text.

You could, but you'd have to cut a spell for it and not a land in this case, because this deck already struggles to get all its colored mana.

Yes. But it would be a lot harder to have a Ponder/Brainstorm/Swords To Plowshares control game out of a deck like that. It's just a different thing.

@@BoshNRoll that is true but the deck didn't really do the valakut thing at all, you could have easily just cut the land and added a wasteland and the results would have been the same. The games you lost were because the deck is really bad at doing the thing (a dozen triggers would have killed the elves player easily) and the games you won were because those decks are bad at dealing with free interaction because they're a bunch of green decks that need to go wide with permanents so they tap out for haymakers. But I suppose if you went all in with scapeshifts you would be the one dying to free interaction

There may have been a very low odds line to survive the r1 g3 bow Master. Dress down into solitude (pitch leyline) beans trigger for swords on your solitude

@@rekenner The out was Dress Down drawing Solitude, pitch-casting Solitude, the 2 Bean triggers drawing Force of Vigor + green card, then FoV removing DD with Solitude on the stack. So like a 50:50 chance, lol. Edit: I guess that still leaves you dead on board. Thought for a moment that Solitude gains based on MV. Edit2: It works if you draw a Leyline Binding first, and the Bean triggers from that do what I said.

@@rekennerbowmaster doesn't trigger with DD in play. And the lethal trigger on the stack is why we were hoping to find Solitude in the first place. It's possible that I missed something again, but I don't see why DD -> LB -> Solitude+FoV wouldn't work.

Yes, Grist says "As long as Grist, the Hunger Tide isn’t on the battlefield, it’s a 1/1 Insect creature in ADDITION to its other types." So it is a Legendary Planeswalker Creature - Grist Insect when not in play.

It's a draw engine, and it's a blue card so in games where you don't need a slow engine, you can pitch it to FoW or shuffle it away with fetch / Brainstorm.
