Vini Reilly is a revered British guitarist and leader of the group The Durutti Column, the first signing to Tony Wilson's iconic Manchester label Factory Records. In this interview he discusses his memories of The Smiths during the early 1980s and his collaboration with Morrissey on his debut solo album, Viva Hate.

Vini made the Viva Hate sound, which created and helped Morrissey's overall sound and style that we expext still 2015 and beyond. If you doubt this listen to Vini style and and the proof is still overall there. Fans of Morrissey should truly give credit to Vini and also to Marr to Morrissey's style that we all love. Lyrics are only 50% and the other 50 comes from where? Like I said, proper credit should be giving to the guitarist....

Morrissey's current guitarist/songwriter is boring musically, it brings down Morrissey's solo work but Vini brought Morrissey to life.

@@Lex-pw9yx Vini says in this interview, I forget which part, that he wrote everything but Suedehead. So which is it? Did Stephen write the music for all of those tracks or did Vini?

True, but mozza has double the career than all of them put together. Mozza has a sense of music and obviously lyrics that go along with it in his head. Not refuting the fact of Maher, Reilly and well, the keen Street and also not doubting what you said about their music or talent (great artists, good people). Mozza is his own and in his time now, though the music suffers without his old musicians, he churns out lasting hits, however few and holds on
