That's what gave me the idea of seeing then battle it out once they got rid of Marie. Had sandy not gone I am sure they would have had one hell of a fight 😊

@@leejohnson6448 Bea would have died . But as great a character as Sandy was she did not have the discipline or self control to be a durable top dog. Besides I doubt Val's ego could have tolerated a challenging story arc like that , so perhaps that's why they dumped Sandy as soon as Bea got on the mend from her operation . I'm also guessing that's why a cracking character like Nola who showed a lot of promise as a credible challenger to Bea (during her first few months ) had to be re-written and rescinded into a stock punch bag baddie for Bea to smash into any time she fancied .

Buy or borrow a book from the library called Sybil Exposed by Debbie Nathan. It tells the true story of Shirley Mason. This poor woman was taken advantage of by Dr Cornelia Wilbur. Connie Wilbur was more like a Dr Jeckyl/ Mr Hyde. Debbie Nathan went through records and found out the truth about Shirley. This woman did NOT have multiple personalities, her mother Mattie was NOT Schizophrenic.

Actually, probably in the early 80's when Prisoner was made there was not a hell of a lot of Australian made TV. Most people back then were like Mel Gibson and a few others who made it overseas. Once we started to make more of our own shows, heaps more people got a start.

I know as I watched them, always preferred English & Aussie shows to American shows, but not sure about the actor recycling, I think maybe they're jobbing actors & took the work if they got & were a known quantity to the producers. Could've also been a belief anong actors that good ones did not do shows like this so they called on the ones that would.

She said "nicker"! As in a thief. Jeez. Only bloody yanks use THAT word. I'm aware of the ignorant American version, but that's just what it is...American. "catch a nicker" "catch a thief".
