Karen served 18 months for stabbing her husband to death when she found him with another woman. Half of that time she was going to University during the day. Mum did 12 or 16 years (according to which episode you watched) for putting her suffering husband out of his misery with a mercy killing. Mum never complained, Karen never stops feeling sorry for herself. Yep, being young and beautiful certainly helps.

@L C. LoL I tried too. I always say that Vera is the only person in the world that can frown smile ,smirk, snicker all at the same time. She's priceless. Although she's not the nicest to the women she seems like a lonely lady that just needs friendship and love. Maybe a little TLC could soften her up a bit. But I very much enjoy her. The show just wouldn't be the same without her.

If only prison was so quiet with only a handful of people. Meg a CO that genuinely cares . A Dr that gives a crap too and actually treats his patients Being able to hit sick call at the slightest sniffle. Not to mention the massive conflict of interest by not having Karen (his ex fiancee) transferred to another prison. Then again in the real world there are plenty of CO inmate relationships 😉 LoL. If I had to choose this over upstate NY I'd choose this for sure. I know I know it's just a tv show but I still like to compare stuff like this to real life

I used to really like Karen, wtf happened to her??? lol... She once was warm and caring... most days anyway. Now she has become a selfish spoiled brat. She acts like a spoiled child. Its a really good thing for her that Meg, Erica, Greg, the lawyer whose name I forgot and Julie??? (social worker) were not selfish like Karen is. All of those characters helped Karen. Risked getting into trouble by helping Karen. Greg spent a lot of money and time finding her a good lawyer to redo her case. She didn't want to do that. She was a witch about it at first. If it was not for Greg she would still be in that place...The other prisoners who she claimed to be their friends were nice to her, stuck up for her. And the lawyer fought to try and find funding for a half way house and tried to get someone to let Karen run it. I just cant believe that she does not seem to care about the other women, she does not seem to care about anyone other then herself! Hope they change that about her. It really grates on my nerves lol

It shows just how insecure Jim is feeling as acting Governor, even to the point where he can't wait to shove Bea in solitary the first chance he gets. He knows as long as Bea is in the mix then he will always have a fight on his hands, and along with that, probably more problems than he is capable of handling. It was not the correct decision to put Bea in solitary, but it was the true sign of a weak leader using her as a scapegoat in order to take the easy way out. Bottom line is that Jim is way out of his depth as Governor and he is scared of Bea's powerful influence among the group.

Vera's accent sounds quite broad here. I swear that in later episodes she has a more neutral, less twangy Australian accent.

I'm watching this thinking the young girl that killed Toni MacNally looks extremely familiar. Was picking my brain for a bit. Then it a occurred to me. She looks a lot like the character Sonia Stevens in Wentworth. I checked it out and like omg. Sigrid Thornton plays Sonia in the new and the young girl in the old. Same person Then I went way down the rabbit hold cuz I saw that there's over a dozen people that were in both Pisoner and Wentworth. Naturally I had to look up each and every one of them. Some I didn't recognize but then again I'm still on season one. I can't believe how many episodes per season back in the day. Nowadays it's like 10-11-12 maybe episodes

Bloody hell. Sigrid Thornton so attractive with those beautiful eyes, when she came in the series I knew what a terrific actress she was but credit to Pat Bishop too as Antonia McNally so classy so scary and Sean genuinely loved Jackie Coulson. Robert Bridgend South Wales
