It's always good to still have some of these off-airs as many of them will have been wiped when videos and later DVDs were released. Always welcome for me to hear the instrumental version of the theme tune which I much preferred to the vocal one. I thought Geoff Butler was a tremendous character. One of my favourite Prisoner lines was from his storyline (not necessarily this episode) when he offers Jim a job as a mercenary and tells him "it's a once in a lifetime opportunity" and Jim replies "so's dying"!

For once people may have been glad to hear the entire TV sized instrumental to "On The Inside". LOL. :D

Just saw this ep a few weeks ago & it did occur to me that pieces of person should've come through that door as well, so a bit gruesome! Literally watching now as you posted, ep149, started a complete rewatch recently, it's great entertainment. G'day Jez T you old bluger, no lagging now!

@@Chillmax Unfortunately, the DVD releases butchered the Prisoner credits and some of my uploads are as they were originally broadcast. A bit niche, I’ll admit 😂!

@@jezt42 I love a bit of niche, so that's fine with me. I'm watching the complete run here at, PrisonerCellBlockH95, I've no idea if the ends are proper, but I always enjoy whistling along to the theme tune 😁.

@@jezt42 for the DVD release, Fremantle digitised copies used for the channel 10 replay in the 90’s, rather than sourcing the original master tapes which are held in the NFSA - it would have cost Fremantle $$$ to have accessed them. They chose the cheaper option, not realising edits were made to the copies they got from 10

By the time this episode was shown in the TSW region around 1990/91, the sponsors had been edited out

TSW was Friday 12th October 1990. They had episode 100 on Friday 10th August, 23.5 hours after Tyne Tees.

Ah, the time in 1980 where the 'Network 10 Production' slide was erroneously used so that both them and Grundy claimed to have made the program! I did forget there was a brief period around then when the Network 10 logo was put before the Grundy Logo in the credits.

What a load of crap you stated. In Australia, it’s mandatory for the production company AND the home network to be credited. The order in which each is credited is irrelevant. What’s the issue?

@@boldbeautifulau its still unusual to see the channel 10 logo before the Grundy logo

@@madmurdock100 Why is it unusual? In the earlier years, the network indent appeared before the production indent, and later, they switched the order. Either way, all 692 had both the production and network acknowledgments. Why is this a discussion point?

@@boldbeautifulau because in the UK it was rare to see Australian shows from 1976 onwards with the channel ident before the company production ident. E.g. The Sullivans: Crawford Production ident before the 9 ident. A Country Practice: JNP Production ident before the 7 ident. Sons and Daughters: Grundy production ident before the 7 ident. That's how we saw them as a general rule in the UK

2nd January 1988 on Central. By this point Central were in the lead then raced ahead of the other regions.

Next play out would be on Yorkshire on Monday 23/05/1988 at 23.05. They would then take a three week break until the next episode on 13/06/1988. In that period Yorkshire were then the final region to start The Young Doctors with Peita Toppano. All other regions had seen Peita in TYD before her Prisoner days.

@@jackmeadows7777 Apart from STV who never showed TYD. With Prisoner I think this was when Granada moved ahead of TVS/Channel in Jan 1989. Anglia would have been just after these.

@@jackmeadows7777 If YTV hadn't merged with TT would they have stayed at one a week and ended up like TVS/Meridian?
@jackmeadows7777

@@pak8606 It was the recession which started in 1991 which caused YTV and TT to have significant shortfalls in their advertising income. They had both bid very high amounts in the franchise auction where the results were announced in Oct 91. Both were unaware when submitting bids that they would be too high and ad revenue would go the way it did. Had the merger not been allowed, I am sure YTV would have upped their Prisoner to two a week as it would save them having to buy in a costlier US import or similar. They still had nearly 400 episodes of Prisoner available to them so there was no shortage. Had the merger not been needed (if ad revenue was good and the licence fees were easily achievable) maybe not. I think YTV would have preferred to keep it at one a week and have Thurs for US films or US imports. But by 1993 Sky and C4 were acquiring the US imports too so there were less for ITV to choose to buy anyway. I certainly think that TYD would not have been increased from three to five a week and YTV could have continued without needing to skip a years worth of episodes. They would have probably yanked it off air by the end of 1995 as Westcountry were told by the ITC to dispense with it. If YTV had kept at three a week with TYD and not skipped episodes they would have had something like 1993 765-914 1994 915-1064 1995 1065-1214.

@@jackmeadows7777 I didn't know Westcountry were told to dispense with TYD. They showed ep 1019 as late as June 1995. Had TSW retained their franchise how far would they have got with TYD? They were only at around ep 560 at the end of 1991 and YTV had overtaken them, and I couldn't see them changing to 5 a week. Were Carlton or Meridian told to drop Prisoner by the ITC?
