People are saying some nasty stuff here. It is not Val Lehman's fault that she has never been offered a role to equal Bea . What is more having turned the role from featured into iconic in Prisoner she is forever associated with it in the minds of casting directors. She thoroughly deserved her award, especially for the Bea's amnesia story line which was her own idea and displayed a lot of emotions over several scenes. It must have been exhausting to film. Well done Val Lehman.

lehman said in 'im a celeb' that she quit as she said the management in the show treated her badly and were bullies, fair play to her in that regard. Too many people stick in jobs where they get treated horribly and bullied by management so i admire the people that won't stand for it.

@@shanefolan she was very gracious to Denise Morgan who worked well with all the cast. It was management that came along later on that caused a split. Val, Shelia and many more left. Writing wasnt too hot for about 150 episodes after vals departure. They got some additional writers that picked it up afterwards. But with Grundy going over to Fremantle really changed the game and they held grudges.

I discovered prisoner six months ago although I do remember seeing it on American television briefly when I was a lot younger-- and I mean a lot younger .seeing it now I can only say that I'm sorry I missed it way back then. as for Val Lehman, she is definitely a very talented actress .you know they always get dressed up for these occasions so to comment on the way she's dressed is ridiculous. nice to see some of them outside of the show .wish they would have done a complete shot of everyone.

I dunno if a lot of people don't like lehman, personally I thought she was an outstanding actress on the show. I think she just ticked people off by quitting it as after her departure the show never recovered, the same goes for shelley long[diane] in cheers who quit the role and angered many fans-it's the joys of being an actor, if you land a hit role that that audiences love and decide to quit it before the show ends then it can turn many against you who feel betrayed.
