That they can cause a condition like Bea's or make it worse. It was not the cause because she just started taking the pills, but they would cause her condition to get worse faster. A kidney transplant is what eventually will have to happen IF her kidneys have lost enough function. The immediate procedure is to get an operation for a fistula (a joined artery and vein in an arm) so that the patient can have dialysis treatments until a transplant is possible (usually a year down the road unless you get a relative or friend to donate one). Dialysis treatments allow the patient to live a normal life although there are some dietary restrictions. I know this because kidney failure runs in my family.
