How My Life Has Improved Since I Left The Jehovah's Witnesses

Recorded on August 17th 2017.
My last meeting at a Kingdom Hall was on 5th January 2014.
As it is impossible to leave the Jehovah's Witnesses with dignity, lies were spread that I'd left following a "mental breakdown".
This is what I've been up to since I left, and how much happier my life has become.

After leaving it just gets better & better! I've been out 25 years now. So many blessings & answered prayers have come my way. It took years to deprogram & really feel free of it .. even as bad as the shunning is, it's been a blessing in hindsight. It has kept my family from sucking me back in & given me time to reevaluate everything. I was able to make a great new life on my terms. I now know who "I am" & not just reiterate what the GB tells me!! I have to say Karl, you truly look happy ! Thanks for helping the newly exited JW's know that it is great outside the org!! Karl Hey Karl, I've noticed some improvements myself. I've been able to pursue much needed medical care, going to community college for a couple classes, having people who are really there for me, having a semblance of character and morality and traveling occasionally to go to concerts as well! I saw morrissey in 92 just as i was slipping away at 18 ( indoctrinated from age 6) the great man was instrumental in my getting out. I was counseled at 14 for listening to the blow monkeys and love them to this day . Powerful shit music! Great that we get to enjoy more videos as a result of their inhumanity. .... Oh and i have forgiven Jesus (i mean Jehovah).

I am fortunate enough to report that both my parents and also my brother eventually woke up, which I never in a million years thought could ever happen. Preach on, brother!! I've been out 3 three years and it's been great. The first couple of years were rough, because my family was in. Since, December of 2016, they are all out. My wife had some inner issues with the org I had no clue about.as you know, if you have doubts or issues with the WT, you can't question, especially vocally. She said the catalyst was the "no beard" rule and it snowballed from there. So my growing a beard made her ask the elders questions and they couldn't back it up with scriptures. Also, I've, since leaving, started doing more stuff with family and we are now closer. I went on a bit of an apology tour and they told me that there was no need to apologize. Great video. Your life looks great.

So pleased for you having grown so much since leaving. I would disagree the Watchtower is a 'cult-like' org as it really ticks all the boxes of being an actual cult (see Steven Hassan and Bonnie Zieman). It's great to see you flourishing. Your family must be so happy to have you back and close - you all deserve that. It seems so typical of JW marriages that when one person wakes up the marriage is over, but it's good to hear both yourself and your ex-wife have moved on to happiness. PS: Alan Partridge is great. What wonderful adventures you are having with your newfound freedom. I remember doing the same... jumping on the plane at the drop of a hat and not worrying about anything. Its been a number of years now since I left and I met a 'worldly' person I fell in love with. We would have these deep conversations and once we talked about the purpose of life and he said.. it was just to make memories...good, bad or indifferent was our choice. I always remember that. We only have this life, make it a good one. :) PS. I stopped calling it "Jehovah's organization" since the person of Jehovah is a myth. I just call it the Watchtower.

I thought the same thing as you. I remember sitting at the meetings thinking if the Bible says "the truth will set you free" why do I feel so in chains? Good to see you've done some travelling. I went to Rome on my own just before I was supposed to be getting baptized and I had the elders quizzing me about why I wanted to do that. I said I wanted to see the history and the art work and after all, what could sway me in my faith if they had the truth? I was looking mainly at the ancient city, but I did also see the Vatican. It was the year 2000 and I didn't know that the Pope had opened the Holy Door as it was the jubilee year. Those who walked through it were supposed to get their sins forgiven and people were kissing it and crying and I didn't know why until I started going through. I took a photo of the beautiful ceiling above as I walked through and got in trouble. Realizing I had sinned in their eyes, what was I to do now, queue back up and go through again. And did I need to hide anything from the elders? I got counselled for taking my kids to mother and toddler group which took place in a church hall, so I asked them why didn't they have one of their own. Like why would they need that? Paranoia! I am free now to do as much research as I want and to go and drink cups of tea and play with the babies at whichever toddler groups I want. The kids are thriving at university too.

It is certainly possible for some people to have PTSD as a direct result of being raised a witness. Anyone who is struggling to get their therapist to understand the possible ramifications of cult indoctrination then suggest they look up Steven Hassan' work (he has a pedigree which they should respect) and Bonnie Zieman's 2017 book written for therapists. Okies: I guess you chaps know that - but just putting it out there. ;)

My grandmother was the same as your mother. She was poor she was so poor that poor people felt rich around her😂😂😂. But she entertained Circuit Overseers Elders , Witness children and every witness child in our congregation came to her house after school and she would give them something to eat. She was never a Witness but the best person I ever knew. Amazing she died because she refused blood.

That episode you speak of where you pull over in your car because you're so desperately unhappy... I can relate. I actually left the JW's over 20 years ago because trying to live the life (I was a pioneer etc) made me suicidal. I had a young child and I realised I just couldn't put her through the jw experience. I just got on with living. It wasn't until fairly recently that I started to find out TTATT, so I've kind of had to revisit a part of my life I'd rather have left behind. Of course I tried to tell my father who is still in about all the shocking info I found out - he's gone from soft shunning to full on shunning now. I feel very torn. Anyway, I hope you will do some more videos if it suits you. All the very best to you.

Hi Clare, thanks for the message :) I plan to make a few videos in the near future. I've meant to do them for a while, it's just finding the time. If/when I get round to them, I'm going to try to limit them to 10-15 mins long, less waffling. There's a great deal of light on the Watchtower org right now and I'm missing out on sticking the boot in.

Fantastic Karl, I can certainly see how being loved by your family has been great for you I remember in your previous video you were saying you had Bursts of anger whilst you were under the influence of the Cult . I can see it myself many marriages are so unhappy because basically the JWs teach men to be unreasonable and very demanding because so much un necessary pressure for conformity is put upon them. This in turn results in very unhappy wives who have got the pressure of putting on this perfect persona so that her husbands position is upheld. You I can see have gone back to the light hearted , fun easy going guy and this is fantastic . For many of ex witnesses they are being shunned by all the family and this I can see leaves some very unhappy people who are doing videos in response to this awful treatment dictated by the Governing Body. I suppose that is why i try to look with pity at people that I used to know because they are I can see very unhappy people being told , “ Happy in the Truth” when it is just not true.

Dear Karl Ezekiel 13 ... 2 Thessalonians 2 that Gods true people will be shaken from there reason ...The whole point is that the devil will upset the true worshippers ie your self and others ...they will see ..The devil was in Judas when he sat with Jesus ...The instruction comes from top ..its the writers and or gov body reading out what's is put in front of them ...Just stick to scriptures you will get all your answers ..its there ..Problem is no one is reading the raw scriptures to ourselves . Do not put hope in man as there is no salvation ,put them in Jehovah and Jesus they have the light .The whole point is from the devil to remove you away to Jehovah and Jesus..

Thanks Devon. Maybe in the future, but for now, the WT society has put me off religion. However, I do view the Bible as an incredible book, it's origins from beyond the ability of us humans to create. To me, it's a mystery. Like the pyramids. Who really wrote it/built them? Why was it written/they built? When was it written/were they built? I dunno, but I'll keep searching for truth, wherever it leads me.
