I'm floored that is a new bike holy cow Kaplan, I hope someone rides the hell outta this thing and let them restore it again in 2074.

This is great to see! I still own my high school bike- a 1976 Kawasaki KH500, 3 cylinder, 2 cycle screamer! These are classic old school street bikes. 👍

True survivor and a beautiful masterpiece. 🇬🇧
@RedBud3159 ай бұрын
Definitely a beautiful bike but, "survivor" means untouched. I was lucky enough to pick one up about 10 years ago for 3K that looks as clean as this and I'd like to think it was untouched. The RD400 was actually the first mass produced bike with MAG wheels. RD also stands for Race Developed for those who may not know. I love the smell of 2-Stroke in the morning.
@allanfoster54189 ай бұрын
@RedBud315 the word survivor basically it's still here after all that time regardless of being restored. how many bikes have ended up in the scrap yard within 10 years millions.

This is my 2nd Motorcycle purchase from Ken-JR, it was an absolute pleasure closing the deal, the best part about buying a Motorcycle from Kaplan is your money is going to the Biggest Motorcycle Enthusiasts on the Planet. . Can’t wait to piss of my Neighbors when it arrives and every time I ride it!!! Thanks again Kaplan Cycles!!!!❤

"Absolutely love the Yamaha RD400 cc! The 1976 model is an absolute classic, with its sleek design and powerful performance. It's amazing how Yamaha managed to pack so much punch into this beauty. Riding one of these is like taking a trip back in time to an era of raw, untamed power on two wheels. The sound of that 2-stroke engine roaring to life is music to my ears. Nothing quite like the thrill of hitting the open road on my favorite RD400 cc. Yamaha truly nailed it with this legendary machine!

Love that green color. This bike looks brand new. Love this bike, but I prefer the 1979 Yamaha RD 400 Daytona, in white and red. The former owner obviously kept up this bike very well.

@KaplanCycles10 ай бұрын
They made a model called the Daytona 400 for one year and 1979 it was red and white
@RedBud3159 ай бұрын
@@KaplanCycles The Daytona was the last air cooled year before they went to the LC. It had what they called a butterfly exhaust valve(not related to the YPVS power valve system) and a single ram-air type head that covered both cylinders. I have a '76 RD400C which is first year of the 400. I started on a '73 RD250 in '78 and then got a '75 RD350 the next year that was really not street legal. Had no turn signals, or speedo, Just a tach and lights and wheelied the 1st 3 gears when it got on the pipe. I blew away all CB-750-4's stop light to stop light until the VFR-750 interceptor came out.

My Dad had a friend that owned a Yamaha dealership back in the day, and my Dad bought an RD400, white (not exactly sure of the year). He brought it home, and I sat on our steps, next to where he parked it. He refused to give me a ride, I was too young. A couple of days later, I saw him riding down our street on it, and I was disappointed, again. After the first few days, Mom made him return the bike to the dealership. Years later, I asked her why, and she said, "We had four children at home, and I wasn't going to let him risk it, you kids needed your Father." Mom was born in Speedway, Indiana, and she knew he wasn't a good rider.
