I think they had 14 years to reduce immigration, if indeed they really wanted to. Cameron was saying it in 2010. Ending freedom of movement just made recruiting essential employess everywhere far more difficult. As a trial of the idea of ending/limiting immigration it should have provided all the evidence anyone needed to show that it was a mad idea and the wrong direction to go in. All the hard of thinking hooray Henrys in the Tory party should not be enacting policy when its not based on reality.

I watched the whole interview and think that Patel deserves some credit with respect to immigration generally. So lets give credit where it is due, even if her Rwanda policy was wrong! Both Patel, Tice, Farage and the vast majority of the Conservative Party are on the same page with respect to immigration based on a points systems similar to that which exists in Australia. She simply emphasises the benefits of immigration to the UK economic prosperity and how essential it is to our public services. The problem is that the racists and bigots amongst us who, like Tommy Robinson, are largely ignorant, assumed that they were against bringing in Brown skinned and black immigrants. Whereas the truth is that they always stated that they wanted to leave the EU so that the British government could decide immigration policy based on rules exclusively created by the UK government rather than those under EU membership. The points based system was brought in after Brexit and supported by both Tice and Farage, culminating in an increase of migrants above levels experienced under freedom of movement. So lets encourage Patel and others from the Conservative Party to publicly state why we need immigrants.
