These modules are a lot easier to install than the OEM ones. I think i now know where i will get the hybrid battery replacement for my 2012 Prius C after the one it has goes out, these ones on the video seem like they will last a lot longer.

This is pretty awesome, I wish Toyota replaced their replacements batteries with this, my Prius C still has 6 years guarantee including free battery replacement if capacity goes under 80% so there doesn't seem to be much value into buying third party solutions :(

So when you swap to the lithium batteries will the charging system on the Prius be able to handle a full charge constantly or will it burn the charging system up?

Great question, on EV and HEVs the cooling is generally oversized for the inverters and motors, your thermal restrictions are usually batteries, with better batteries what would happen is that the thermal loop may run more often and generally it will handle it with no problems. If the inverters/motors get too hot, the system will know and thermally derate it until everything cools down. So again, no worries there either.

Hi, At 12:14, For the new replaced battery, Why the battery pack is showing 164V at 73% SOC ( It must be over 200 Volts and Blade Voltage should be above 12V ) and Blade Voltage is 8.23 while minimum voltage of LFP battery is 3 volts and there are 70 cells in total , 5 cells per pack x14 Packs. Urgent reply will be appreciated.

How do you manage to run in EV mode at those speeds? My 2013 Prius C won't stay in EV mode after about 9 mph.

As long as you remove the orange jumper and keep your both hands away from anything orange you'll be fine

The battery would have no effect on 0 to 60 time. The battery doesn't change the software or any other parameter of the Prius.

Hello Do you know how to reset the fuel level sensor on 2012 Prius C? One day my car decided to run out of gas with 2 bars left and no flashing. I haven’t been able to find a way to reset it for the Prius C. I’ve seen instructions for the regular Prius, but not the Prius C. Thank you !

No, you’re just replacing the cells, not the computer. The entire install is in this video. One thing to note for Prius C owners is the battery blade is different than the standard Prius cells, so you can’t mix them. I read this on their website. I’m not sure why a Prius C owner would waste money on 4 extra cells they don’t need, other than the packs being sold out, which they are right now,, but it’s definitely worth noting that they can’t do this even if they want to.

@@TheExcelciorBeta I think that the computer charges the batteries based on voltage, since the lithium have a higher capacity, these will take up longer to charge with the engine, but also longer to discharge, the computer indeed will charge it up well going downhill for example.

Depends on which car you have. They have a different number of cells so price varies on that. Check the website for pricing. They are releasing in waves so it will say its sold out. The next batch will go out in July. The previous batch was sent out in May.

It is not good idea to put lithium in a such a way. Lithium modules require balancing which is not in this battery. Every module shall have own circuit discharging the module if the voltage is too high. This is not needed in nimh modules Toyota still uses nimh due to better durability and wider temperature range. Also it is easier to reuse nimh than lithium cels.

@@hedgehogthesonic3181 this the nature of lithium cels, these in the middle have warmer temperature than outside modules so different chemical process would appear. Nimh have this problem in a small scale and nimh can have higher voltage than nominal so neighbur nimh modules would charge any way. In lithium you can not allow voltage above nominal due to damage the cell or decreasing lifetime. If you have i.e 16 modules in series then for sure one or more would have higher voltage than it should. Bms with balancing feature in my opinion should be added here to increase the lifetime and make it more safe.

It gives more efficiency, more MPG, since this battery has to be charged less, meaning that the ICE needs to turn on less to charge it.
