I think the same almost exactly, other than the connector. I wound up getting the connection off a rail in the Weller Self Serve yard, cut at Autozone and hose clamped on 6ft of fuel line hose. Easy to do. We messed with the fuel line from the tank connection over the last few days so many times, the outer plastic liner on the aluminum fuel line at the connection wore loose, so I had to use a razor blade and carefully go around and remove that so the last time I reconnected the fuel rail hose, I was able since wasn't safely going on all the way. Appears the car has to be on to bridge the Fuel Pump Relay, as I tried pulling out with the car off and wasn't powering on with the DMM in current mode set at 10A to see the reading or when jumpered with a wire. Guessing if throwing the P3190 P0A0F, can keep the fuel pump on using the Relay that is the long black one and bridging the black and white wires on the relay section closest to the front of the car. If I remember right, we just reset the 12V maybe 3 or more times, the car started twice and died each time so was about 6 times the fuel pump pumped fuel into our gas tank. Was enough to get the bad gas that was stuck in her lines and injector rail from when she ran out and put maybe half gallon of bad gas in before filling her tank. Once out, the car started and ran rough at first and seems back to normal.

Thanks for a good video with good info. I'm replacing the gasoline engine in a 2012. It's been sitting almost 4 years, and I'd much rather pump than drop.

Great video! I've got 1 year old gas I need to get rid of. I have an Amazon electric universal 12v fuel pump. I'm gonna attach hoses to each end and attach to 12v battery and just pull it out through the gas inlet door! This is a great way to do it with the car's pump but will it damage it when it runs dry?

My 2010 has misfire problem have replaced injectors, Sparks and EGR. Cleaned EGR cooler and intake manifold. I pulled the injectors but when I was pulling them there was little or no pressure on the fuel rail so how do you know you have bad fuel
@JohnCalebWarren5 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem on a 2010, and did everything you listed above. It turned out to be a blown headgasket in between cyl 1 & 2. Check your compression, and I bet you'll have a blown head gasket in between cylinders, about a 90% chance. How many miles does your car have?

I need to do a fuel pressure test on my 2010 Prius. I've got a P0171 System too lean bank 1 code. Only getting 37 mpg which seems to go along with it being a fuel pump on its way out. Can I hook into the line at the pump? Seems easier than at the engine.
@JohnCalebWarren4 жыл бұрын
I was initially going to try to hook up a line directly at the pump but it's so tight down in that hole & the angle doesn't really allow for it. It's so much easier at the engine, and further away from the fuel source if an accident were to occur 🔥

@@DennisLevens Thank you for the reply. I wonder if you could help me with a few questions: 1) How long does it take to empty a fully filled Prius-C fuel tank? 2) What size of tubing did you use to drain the fuel? 3) Where did you connect the tubing? Is it at a similar place as a Prius (in this video)?
@DennisLevens3 жыл бұрын
@@Sunnysky321 I believe it took several hours, I did not use a tube, I just used a PVC pipe to a bucket, as long as the PVC is larger than the metal tube (after pressing the plastic disconnect on the hose you are left with a metal tube)

@@DennisLevens One more question: Is the pump located under the back seat just like a regular Prius? I thought the traction battery is located there. BTW, I am away from my Prius-C.

Can the fuel pump be replaced
@JohnCalebWarren5 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be replaced but it is inside of a casted assembly consisting of the fuel filter and sending unit. When you remove that circular ring the complete pump assembly is down inside there

Hey, nice and great detail. I just almost did similar with my friends 2006 gen 2, though my after the matter video is not even close and is more an overview. Wound up having her start the car as many times as she could, before resetting the ECUs via disconnecting the 12V. Was enough to pump the bad gas in the lines out after flushing the rails with carb cleaner. She had P3190 and P0A0F codes since started a little and died from being to weak and then not being able to start after like two attempts I think. kzbin.infoFnYaJDQuiO0

@@hasanainbaqer8837 Can you set the Prius in maintenance mode, and then pump the fuel?
@jafinch782 ай бұрын
@@Sunnysky321 I was wondering. My Autel reader didn't appear to have a setting as some readers can turn on the fuel pump. Appears the car needs to be on to get the fuel pump relay to function in the gen 2 Prius, if you jumper that with a DMM in Current mode 10A or using another jumper like even paperclip some have done for burping with the inverter motor relay. I tried when off, though didn't bother when was on.
