The private search engine Whoogle (a name obviously inspired by Google search) combines the relevant search results from Google with privacy features from DuckDuckGo. Whoogle can be self-hosted even on devices like the Raspberry Pi and includes many benefits like no Javascript, no cookies and no tracking while still retaining convenience like search suggestions, instant results and !bang searches.
For even more anonymity, it supports requests through the Tor network, it can be easily installed from Docker and other one-click sources and, in my opinion, deserves a look from anyone who migrated to alternative search engines like Searx, Startpage or Qwant.

Haha, I actually mention Startpage towards the end. It does have Google's results but in my opinion Whoogle is slightly superior especially when it comes to search result presentation. It has for example better instant answers and the !bang feature from DDG which I think Startpage doesn't have.

It's a search engine, not a browser. Browsers are applications and search engines are websites that index other websites.

Not technically a search engine - this is a search engine proxy. If they become popular, those typically live on borrowed time, since you're making Google float the bill, while killing their source of revenue. I wish someone would build an actual search engine, but it's probably not easy - even Microsoft with a horde of super engineers couldn't manage that 😆

Really the only private and independent search engine that has a good track record so far is Brave Search, but their search results are still not as good as Google's.
