For a time they were used as adversary aircraft at Top Gun School. They gave the F-15s and F-16s fits--often achieving a 2 to 1 kill advantage. They are much more nimble than the "F" jets and until 'stand off" missiles they were embarrassing the supposedly superior jets. This is a fighter we should still have i our inventory.

Dude smacked it down!! Seems like a very short runway to land an F-5 at. Not much room for error there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this looks more like a T-38, F-5's have a straighter nose to accommodate the gun barrels and louvers on the sides of the intakes. I've never worked F-5's or T-38's, I'm a F-16 guy but have seen plenty of both.

Agreed, similar look but these are Canadian-made early model F-5s

Glad to see at least some of our CF-5s are still flying. They spent a fortune upgrading them and just parked them due to budget cuts. We still had planes coming out of the AUP upgrade long after 419sqn shut down. Same thing happened with our T-33 fleet. Canadian gov't doesn't know if their arses were drilled or punched.
