Wow...very modern set-up..Chris is the first guy I've seen (on a gear tour) to show you his signal chain via laptop..I want that Fractal Axe-Fx unit...sick-
@MrUltraworld12 жыл бұрын
For touring, the Fractals make so much sense. In the studio, my amps are king. But the cost of traveling with heavy tube amps (worrying about tube failures) just doesn't make sense anymore. One Fractal with a line out to the PA and in ear monitors is really all you need. The amp models are pretty good (fine for megadeth tones), the effects are truly amazing. Adding a power amp & cabs onstage is easy. I think he's smart to use this rig.

@GUITARRIFIED He is only using Marshall poweramps. His tone is the Fractal AXEFX now. They are amazing sounding units.
@marshallstack197214 жыл бұрын
Guitar>wireless>Fractal (aka "fancy POD")>stereo out to power amps>tap cabinet sim out to in-ear headphone mix, edit/control the Fractal patches with a laptop. I don't see anything overly complicated here. I do a similar setup with a POD Pro, TC Electronic G-System, stereo power amp and a MacBook Pro. The Fractal is like having a POD and G-System all-in-one, so his setup is actually less complex than mine.

@KG739 hes not running an amp head. Hes running marshall power amps. His amp tone and sound is coming from the axe fx out through the fx loop into the marshall power amp. All the marshall power amp does is give him sound through his cabinets on stage.

@Dreamscapevirus actually the reason mustaine used a line 6 amp was because he couldn't get the marshall amp he wanted to use from america to the uk for recording because it was a buddy of his, so he had a line 6 modded after that amp to use. He's always used marshall or marshall-esque amps/clones... except for RIP I'm pretty sure he used Bogner/VHT.

@Gabriopunk77 I thinkI've read that Mustaine forbids him from using anything but Marshall on stage, so the only way he can get the Engl sound since there is no Engl head for him to use is to use a amp simulation on the Axe-FX.

Vox wah, Mayer Fuzzface & Octavia. Not to mention studio fx like phase shifting & backward effects. Hendrix did indeed use equipment to create different sonic textures. Btw, ZeProfezional, why is it, do you think, that SO many guitarists from SO many genres cite Hendrix as a major influence?

Chris seems like a nice guy & he's one hell of a guitar player. Mustaine is lucky to have him. His rig is cool cause it saves a ton in shipping costs. Overseas, he can rent Marshall 1960 cabs & not have to worry about hauling them overseas. I have the Fractal & the effects must be heard to be believed, I couldn't find a pre amp tone that I liked. Cleans are good & super high gain is good. But the subtle in between amps models left me cold. I keep it in my studio.

@ConspireToConspire I agree, a very simple setup. I was surprised to see no reverb or delay (maybe he will have that in a solo patch he didn't show). The two guitars were shocking yeah, I can see playing an entire show with one guitar (I do the same), but what if your backup fails? Then you're boned..

@momay69 He stated in a recent interview its more 6 string he doesnt play very much of except when he has to. Offstage he still plays 7 string all the time because his backstage/hotel guitars are 7 strings cause hes a 7 string kinda guy... he didnt specify that in this interview though.
