In March 1945, the 2nd Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry, of the 3rd Division, mounted an operation to clear the German village of Kervenheim. However, early into the operation, a German strongpoint, centred around a farmhouse, held up the Battalion's advance. In this video, we detail the heroic actions of Private James Stokes as he single-handedly cleared this strongpoint and opened the way for his Battalion to move up to Kervenheim.
