the major phases of flight are fine day vs night .. just most of climb and descent (and enroute) can be tough since there is so little detail for the camera/codec during night flights.. but yeah.. the takeoff and landing especially were great. i enjoyed the whole video.. but especially those parts. Buttah landing!

Since not many pilots share very many night flights. This was a treat for me at least. I don't care if the video is a tiny bit grainy although yours wasn't, it's still my favorite time to fly as well. Usually a lot smoother air and the lights below are stunning to say the least. Great stuff, Kris! Thought you were going to go right over my house, but thankfully for me, I'm too far west from that area. 😁 Jorge was a riot! Great co-pilot. Always makes for a better work day when a co-worker has a great attitude, and cracks jokes when appropriate. Man, beautiful night shots - I'm always amazed at how beautiful everything looks from the air at night. Something I've never seen before, personally. You are right about FL! She's my mistress, lol. A hot, and at this point in time, an unattainable one. It's heartbreaking to see her. I've been trying to pretend she doesn't exist, yet, there she is again, and as beautiful as ever ... 🤣

Watching this from KCNH (Claremont, NH). Wow! I believe this is a 'first' Jet flight and AT NIGHT! :) KPSM used to be a 'Strategic Air Command' base for the USAF. it was the 509th Strategic Air Command base. Aircraft stationed at Pease AFB were the FB-111A mach 2+ swing-wing bombers, KC-135A refueling tankers and the T-37 trainers. Prior to that I believe the 11,000ft rwy was for B52s back in the 1960s.

Your co-pilot may have seen positive RATE on the VSI, however radio altimeter was still zero. Just don’t be too eager to retract gear when you’ve barely left the ground (if at all). Looking for “positive CLIMB” on the rad-alt, wheel height, will ensure mains have left the ground. Cheers

Your co pilot is a funny guy. When he called “airspeed increasing” on short final, I thought uh oh, but then remembered you had high tailwind close in on the approach, a few knot tailwind on the runway. As you lost the tailwind your ground speed change lagged behind because of your mass causing the airspeed increase. Hadn’t thought about that before, not a big deal in a small piston, but could be a big deal for this jet. I like these flights, and the baron flights too. Keep up the good work.

Loved the night flight! Think I heard you say you were experiencing a headwind of 133 kts at FL230. What were the winds like when you got to your cruise altitude of FL400? Also, although you ultimately opted for the visual-apparently to the controller's joy-did you keep the autopilot coupled to the ILS 9 until on final? It did seem that you disconnected the autopilot well above minimums. Why not ride it down further? Many thanks! PS: and perhaps in a future video you'll tell us more about that "complicated life" you referred to! 😊

Actually, Kris, I do enjoy the mix of turbine and pistol flying. Lot of checklists flying the Lear, but I don't see the same thing flying the Baron. Can you comment on that? Another question. When you installed the Aspen in the Baron, I wondered why you didn't go for the SVT. Obviously you don't have that on the Lear. Is that the reason why, you were used to flying the glass of the Lear and didn't feel it necessary to have SVT in the Baron, or, maybe it was something else, a cost issue? I was kind of impressed, a block time of about 3.5 hours from New Hampshire to South Florida. No one ever said Lears were slow! Thanks for taking us along, thank Jorge for allowing us to have him in the videos. You need to get one of those electronic checklists for the Baron, and you get him to read the items into it for you!

I don’t show checklist in the baron because I’m trying to keep the videos from being too long. In the Lear it’s a little easier and people have a little more interest in seeing them in a Jet. With that being said, every Jet video won’t always show checklists. I like svt but I was already doing many upgrades. But there may be more coming. So you’ll have to wait and see 😉

I've not flown up front at night very often - I never got a night rating when I was flying myself. However, the few times I have done so have always been exciting. 40 years ago, I flew into the old HKG in a Canadair CL-44, our approach being over the sea, not via the chequerboard, thank goodness. My captain was over his legal hours having ferried into BKK and back out to avoid a coup. While we were lining up on the extended center line, which is all indicated by lights set on supports in the water, I noticed from the jump seat that our nose drifted to the left, way off line. No one else seemed concerned, so, as a low hours PPL, I assumed it was to correct for a crosswind closer in. It wasn't until much closer in that the co-pilot drew the captain's attention to the drift. He had confused lights on a Starline ferry crossing ahead of us between the lighting supports for the approach lights, and we had been following that. He over corrected, twice, and we made a firm contact with the tarmac, bouncing twice. They say you never stop learning, but my captain on that flight apparently did not learn. Two weeks later he put another CL-44 on its tail during a gusty night landing at AMS, cracking the tail spar. I have always been worried since about the effects of fatigue on night flying, as you so often do not notice it until you make a mistake. I am happy to have seen how well you handled your tailwind and smooth landing - I think I would feel safe if I knew you were up front.
