This student did a pretty good job on their mock checkride and I would say with just a little more studying they would be ready.
Now if you are trying to make sure you are ready for your next check ride head to www.trainingwi... and schedule a mock checkride.
Be on the look out for new training resources
Follow over on twitch at / cheezepilot where I teach for free and also if you earn up enough channel points you can get a mock check ride for free.

I enjoy your videos but found something you might want to look into. In this video you say that we cannot change spark plugs22:55. Appendix A to Part 43 section C #(20) says, "Replacing or cleaning spark plugs and setting of spark plug gap clearance." Falls under preventive maintenance. Also check out Mike Savvy of Savvy Aviation video or podcast on preventive maintenance. The FAA actually allows much more than what has been widely taught.

Great video!! I believe 55:57 is supposed to be magnetic course not heading. Because if supposedly you are traveling on a magnetic course of 178 but due to wind you are crabbing a heading of 182, you still need to fly odds + 500 because your course is easterly.

Word of advice, just like in court, never give more than what you’re asked when you’re on the stand. In this case when he asks about the electrical system at about the 42 minute mark he got into specifics about a “12 V” system with “24 V alternator”. That was wrong. If I ask you “do you have a watch” do not just aimlessly turn around and say “yes I do it’s X:XX PM”. The original question was do you have a Watch? That’s a simple yes or no answer. In the case of this “tell me about the electrical system” response should have simply been” it has a battery that charges with an alternator which goes to all the electronics” and end it there. The DPE if he wants to know more intricate details and specifics THEN will indeed ask if need be. We refer to these as “rabbit holes” and once you get into one it’s a good way to fail your Checkride . I passed my check ride but have sat in on about eight others over the course of time and I’ve seen this time and time again. I mentioned this specifically because this exact identical question was asked to a student a few years ago and he gave some atrocious response which then diverted to a 15 minute side tangent of questions that eventually failed him. He was originally asked a simple yes or no style of format question on electronics and spilled his guts saying extra things that were absolutely irrelevant. At the end of the day he failed his check ride and still had a $1400 plane rental fee and DPE fee at the end of the day while not passing. This small advice can save you. Food for thought. ✌️

Cessna 172SP - The standby battery in a Cessna 172SP is located between the firewall and the instrument panel, behind the PFD. It is controlled by the STBY BATT switch and is available to supply 30 minutes of power to the ESS BUS in the event that the alternator and main battery power sources have both failed. I CHATGPT'd it. ... For what its worth.........................Go Bears!

Talking about Va. The sad part about that failure and crash you are talking about, is the pilot did what he was trained by the AIRLINE to do in that situation. The maneuver was in the SOP. The airline was found to be at fault, not the FO. Thanks for the video btw
@cheesepilot

@cheesepilot Honestly, it's tough to comprehend how something like that could even make it into a procedure and trainjng for a Major fkn airline when some of the most basic knowledge from all the way back to the beginning of a pilots training in PPL certification is understanding manufacture certified V speeds

I think it would have been good to talk about FAR 43 Appendix A which spells out what preventative maintenance can be done by a pilot. Also, may be semantics but as I understand section 61.23, medical certificates of one class don’t become a different class, their privileges change as time passes on. Maneuvering speed is always a confusing concept for me to wrap my head around so thanks for that discussion.
