This video reminded me how much I loved making the office space as lovely as possible for my clients. And I also had plants in various stages of regrowth and we inevitably used that as a metaphor for what we were doing. I am just telehealth unless my income increases greatly but love the idea of making a beautiful space-with good coffee!

I just made the decision to go fully virtual for 2023 and let go of my office space. Maybe one day I’ll go back to seeing in-person clients, but it was no longer the right fit for my lifestyle. If one day having an office space serves me again, I’m so looking forward to making it a beautiful space like this!!

It really does make all the difference. Whenever clients walk into my office at work (I'm at a college), they say "Ooh...this is so nice..." Lots of warmth, texture, layers, and twinkly lights. Even though the colors are peacock blue, greens and browns, it doesn't feel cold at all.

I am loving your videos! New follower! I hope to have my own office in private practice but until then you have helped encourage me that teletherapy is possible. I plan to start out telehealth while my youngest kiddo is still young and hopefully grow to in person in a few years ! Thanks for your help!

Just great timing for me! I've moving into my own office in Ferbruary, and get to do my own set-up and decorating from mid-January. I'm super excited and this definately helps me figure out what I want to have in it!

Love your new office! It's so lovely! I've been back in an office, renting full-time since July of 2021 (despite only being part-time, 2 days/wk until I was able to build up to full time). I made the transition to full-time back in March and am happy that I have my own little space! I run a hybrid practice but love the dynamic of being in-person (with masks, of course, right now).

Love this! I’m definitely doing in-person. I’ve found that I’m drained and distracted more with telehealth 😫

I’m the same! It’s completely night and day for me and I have energy to do more and better work in person

Thanks so much for sharing this tour! I'm going from part time to full time private practice and I can say that it's definitely exciting to have your own office where you can use your creativity to make it your own space. I'm in the waiting period for my furniture to arrive, but should be done in Jan/Feb. I love your office and that big window! Natural sunlight in an office is a must for me too! :)

Loveeeeee the decor!!! Just an observation - Maybe placing your therapist chair where you have easy/ closer access to the door just for safety or in case of an emergency :)

I’m wondering the knit pattern for your ivory blanket😉. Beautiful space!

Yes! It’s here: www.lionbrand.com/products/knitting-pattern-moss-stitch-afghan-1 I just wait until the yarn goes on sale or I slowly use 40 percent off coupons to build up a stash to create it

Thank you for sharing. Just curious what is the square footage of this office?

I LOVE the natural light! But as a client, I prefer darker spaces. I think it feels more containing and private. Or the bright light intrudes on my darker moods (?). Still figuring this out haha! Absolutely gorgeous space 😍

Oh how interesting, I never thought of that! Just proves how every one of us has our own sense of what safety looks like. Perhaps I’ll need to keep that in mind for folks who might prefer to have the curtains closed

Agreed! Light is so overwhelming due to having dry eye syndrome and blue eyes. OK so I’m an INFJ too, lol. Maybe south-facing makes it more soothing though?

Love your office! Where did you get the pattern for the cute round pillow?
@PrivatePracticeSkills2 жыл бұрын
I used this pattern with a cotton-based yarn to avoid getting merino hair everywhere: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnuUnKmdbq17ibs

Thanks for sharing videos of your office- it helps inspire ideas for a future office if I ever shift from my virtual practice. Would you be willing to share your budget for the new office redecoration? It would be helpful so I can get a sense of what I would need to budget for my own office. Thanks!!
@PrivatePracticeSkills2 жыл бұрын
Yes! The first time I furnished my own office in 2016 I did it for $1000 (I scraped pennies and shopped clearances to make it happen!). Now that my income is exponentially higher than it was then, I budgeted $10k this time around. I definitely allowed myself to splurge on a few nicer items! So I think there is a range depending on your preferences. I still loved my last office too :)

Thanks for your transparency!! We’re in a culture that often is uncomfortable talking about money, and I’ve found that discussing money openly with colleagues and friends had helped me learn both what is financially possible and how to better manage my earnings. I really appreciate your response & love your channel!
