As the former owner of the CORNELIA (800042) you could always tell when you had an experienced passenger crew or a freight crew handling the car between 2 track in Penn Station and Sunnyside yard. The passenger crews would drop the pin so gently, you couldn't feel the car move. The freight crews would slam you into the bumping post! ☺️

Elodea In my 36 years as a conductor I made many private car move, while qualified to Washington I always considered myself a freight conductor and always received compliments from owners on my handling of their equipment😀

Not knowing the full history, but Hickory Creek spent time with Ringling Bros after the NYC. I saw it before restoration, I thought it was rotted beyond hope. Ray Clauss restored it and did a wonderful job. You would not believe how bad it was, to see it now.

I have seen some private cars in Sunnyside Yard before, they were being pulled by an ACS64.

It's unfortunate he didn't include any of the interiors. These private cars are so rare and so exquisite.

I learned a lot about how early train operations from Clive Cussler's, Issac Bell detective series. The detective would travel across the country by train.
