This was like 3 weeks ago. I feel differently now than in this video. I was very stressed and I'm glad Tren, Nick and Kevin humbled me. Some of my attitude in this video feels a bit embarrassing looking back now but I thought I'd still post this as I want to show everyone that we all go through shit and no one's perfect. More content and announcement coming soon, stay tuned :)

omg i was feeling Pan's pain so deeply this whole time, stressing out about graduating college and not finding a job in tech, but his friends are so positive, they give me hope and understanding that there's not only one right choice, you need to risk to find something worth living for. Thank you guys, I'm only trying to find my place and feeling of loneliness and fear of not having a future were haunting me and now I have some positive thoughts among the horrible ones too.

Bro has 300k subs, has interned at faang and is still stressing for no reason if he doesn't get a high paying job right after college or a successful start up in his early 20's, just enjoy life pan and stop blowing things out of proportion.

I don't really like it when people say "You've had it easy", and things like "300k subs you have an easy life" blah blah blah. While that may be true, I feel like that's not helpful to Pan, nor what he is looking for. We're not here to compare how easy other people have it, therefore they should just kick back and relax. No, that's not the point. The point is to make the best out of your situation, to always make the best decisions so you have the highest chances of getting the best outcome (best here defined relatively for each person). He's looking for advice on how to forward his career and achieving his goals. In the process, of course it is normal to be stressed, who doesn't get stressed when making life decisions? But I think it's counterproductive to tell people that, "You shouldn't be stressed, you have it easy", blah blah blah, even if they are true, that's not the point at all. I don't feel like Pan was looking for people to comfort or reassure him. I think he was looking for advice on the best moves to make, instead (really just in my humble opinion) what he had was just a whole bunch of people repeating the same thing to him, "You got it easy", "Relax", "Why are you so stressed out". No hate at all towards everyone in the video, this is just what I saw and I feel kinda frustrated hearing people's replies, haha. Edit: I do note that there was some genuinely helpful advice in there other than reassurances of "You have it easy". It's just that the majority of it wasn't

What if you practiced things differently? You have already done a bunch of leetcode... Expecting different results from the same actions might be a dumb decision. Understand which part you're failing at and review it carefully. I got a SDE2 offer by 25yo with this approach, many improvements were not related to raw programming skills, but something like selling myself and actually having a few interesting stories. It's pretty hard to come up with a story, so you must start by actually doing one. For example, if you find out it would be awesome to hear about a Pokedex project from a candidate in an interview, build a fucking Pokedex in your free time. You can write a few paragraphs of what were the relevant parts and practice selling this idea. After a few attempts, I think you might get what you're looking for :) Also, don't forget, it's just a job. Passing it is like, having the opportunity to begin your 1st day, which is actually work.

nick is so right. you are so privileged. you are better than 99% of the new grads out there and yet you act like you are doomed. you need to STOP thinking that you need to find a better job. once you worked at a FAANG company, it feels like everything else is garbage because they pay less. NO, there are so much value in small startup, you learn different things and meet different people. just go try it. yes you get paid less but the value that you learn is worth more.

I disagree with Tren at 11:04. Pan is not built on nothing. He has a great story with struggle and is naturally funny and good at content creation. Does that make something easier? Obviously, but that doesn't discredit the extra work that he had to put in regardless. Tren was pushing it a bit here, at least that's what I think.

There's nothing wrong with min-maxing. It's fine to try to make the best choice you can. It's not because you're gonna die one day that you shouldn't try to live your best life.

I’d only slightly agree with your friends in that your unnecessarily pessimistic but I disagree about you being privileged in mindset. Yes you’ve got it better than most in terms of options (KZbin, fang)but you’ve worked for those options they were not handed to you and you rightfully should have high expectations in return for the work that you put in. I might have a solution your dilemma. You are a Faang quality engineer so why not work at a mid level or upper mid level but at the pace and quality of a faang engineer. Meaning you get promotions/comp/position faster in the mid level and then when the economy bounces back which it will then you move to faang with an impressive track record. What 1,2 or 3 years in the grand scheme of things. Also, I wanna ask you a question. Would you not feel it a bit wasteful if you went to do full time KZbin after the effort you’ve put into becoming a software engineer? Please take everything I’ve said as an opinion I’m still a uni student and I haven’t been watching you for long so I’m naive on the working world and your personal aspirations.
