What I never understood was Tara seemingly changed her solo at the last minute but was allowed to dance. Ben tries to change his solo to the same choreography Sammy was going to do but gets told he’ll be disqualified. They said it’s because all choreography needs to be approved in advance but Sammy’s was approved, so why couldn’t Ben do it?

My theory is that it was okay because she had the choreography (kinda since it was a different version) approved for the preliminaries, it was accepted?

She decided to change the solo after their contemporary perfomances, so probably at least a day before (considering she still had to learn the choreography, maybe a few days before?), so she probably had time to have it approved I don't think Ben wanted to win, so he didn't care to have it approved

Yeah I reckon that it was because she gave them notice where as Ben’s was on the spot.
