Dance Academy is mainly about the fifteen-year-old Tara Webster - a girl who grew up on a farm in outback Australia. Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of being a dancer and in the series she finally makes it into the National Academy of Dance. It’s known as the best school in the country and she is sure her life is about to be spectacular.
Throughout the series Tara and her friends face the universal challenges of being a teenager and they battle through the minefield of elite dance training. Relationships grow and change as they live side by side in the Boarding House. They each take a different path, but they start to find out who they are and they all dare to chase their dreams.

Abigail's breakdown is what hits me...they paced it out really well. Bottling up the emotion after the initial shock...and it just slowly builds up for her and it just comes out in a total breakdown. So realistic...and Dena portrayed the character incredibly. She was the best actress on the show in my opinion.

most heartbreaking moment was christian sitting on the steps by the academy and in the background noise you hear a faint siren of an ambulance ..........you know at that moment, Sammy is dying or already dead, all while christian is writing that good luck card for Tara

Yeah I guess thats why he was so hesistant , the guilt never went away and how he lashed out at Sammy's Father when he saw him. They will never be fully over his death

It's been years since I've even thought about this show but god, it still gets me every single time. I got through half the video, thinking this time I'd be fine, but nope. It was Abigail's breakdown in rehearsal that took me out this time. Sammy's death remains one of the saddest TV show deaths ever in my opinion. Dance Academy did a phenomenal job where many other teen shows failed, by making a group of friends that feels authentic. And portraying grief in a way that feels authentic. This show is honestly so much better than anyone gives it credit for.

My favourite part is definitely them all performing Sammy's solo as he wished and how even though the judges are just so unimpressed & unfazed the audience errupt into a giant applause!

I've never cried this much than when Sammy died. And I cry every time i see the scene. This show meant the world to me and i kinda saw myself in Sammy, so when he died I was in so much pain. Just like he was a real friend and not a character. So, well, thank you Dance academy to make this show, it is incredebly good and i watch it almost once a year.

I think the actor Thom Green wanted to leave so they chose to write him off like this. Gutsy stuff considering this was a show for teens and boy did it have a lasting impact on the characters ,audience, the story as a whole!
