Saw them for the first time in 2003 at Toads Place in New Haven CT with Soilwork, Chimaira, and Unearth...it was one of the best shows I ever saw. In Flames and Soilwork were just fantastic! There was a barrier in the middle of the floor that separated the under 21 and over 21 crowd, I was 33 at the time and it was pretty empty on my side compared to the other side. It was just a lot of fun and a lot of beers!

This tour was the first time I saw them as well. It was in Hollywood. My sister and her boyfriend lived down the street from the venue so we walked there from her house. This was also probably my first concert I didnt purchase tix in advance for. The show was sold out. I told my sister and her boyfriend to just go back home and that one way or another I would get into the show. Much easier for 1 person to get into a sold out show than 3 people. And I was the fan. They were just going for the hell of it. Anyways, I ended up talking to one of Chimaira's roadies outside the backstage entrance. He ended up charging me $20 for an all-access backstage wrist band and then walked me backstage. I spent the show watching it from side-stage with Kerry King from Slayer. Anders stood next to me with his girlfriend watching some of the other bands set. Then, before In Flames took the stage, they came out from the basement dressing room grabbing their instruments and putting their in-ears in with me standing right in the middle trying to stay out of their way. I wished them luck and enjoyed the show from side stage. No moshing and no alcohol because i was afraid if I left my spot backstage i'd be found out that i didnt belong and would be kicked out or something. After the set, Daniel (the drummer) came off stage and borrowed my lighter to smoke. That lighter never worked again after he used it and I still have it today. Ive seen them 10 times since then.

Seen this band 3 times. Once in 99 to see them and Moonspell, in Detroit. Once in 09 on the Mega-Dave tour with CoB, and others. (fun fact.. that show cost me my then gf cause she hated IF and CoB... so I told her I hated her an left her at her mom's an went.... it was her bday) An then again with Demon Hunter, ASP, and Battlecross. All 3 shows did not disappoint. Though they didn't play a couple of songs I wanted to.. Looking forward to these guys on tour again.

Everyone forgets about Dark Tranquillity, means no disrespect to IF, but they should have more recognition

Yet the swedes have bashed them Daniel Ekeroth in his book "Swedish Death Metal" accused them of "Aping at the gates". Personally I love in flames, I got into them due to an American band Darkest hour.
