I've been building a Japanese garden here in the desert of Phoenix Arizona US for 4 years. I wish we could get bamboo in large amounts at a lower cost. I did grow some Giant Bamboo so got to work with it some. It's a wonderful material. I'm surprised in this case to see the wooden posts used I assume because it's treated to last longer being in the ground. But surprised they weren't wrapped in bamboo. I'd imagine though they will kind of disappear when the bamboo turns light brown. Your videos inspire me. Thank you.

Well, depending on the season, the color will change to yellow in about a month! In Japan, that color change is also considered to be beautiful.

Bamboo isn't as simple to use as some people seem to think. Even bamboo which has been treated with fire and varnished can crack if exposed to the sun and rain.

Nicely done and really adds beauty to the house. The bamboo will dry out and the fence deteriorate in about four years but thats accepted in Japan when using this plentiful material. Plastic bamboo fencing is very popular in Japan now which lasts longer but even that takes a beating in Japan’s subtropical climate.
@TheJimford
@TheJimford 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, Bamboo is quite beautiful in its own right. A fence like this, can last into 20 plus years, as long as the bamboo itself is not in contact with damp earth. It will naturally shed rain and is prized for its gray color in age, as much as its golden color that follows this fresh green. Bamboo is One of my favorite material all round...👍
