I'm completely amazed by how comfortable Asmon is with not going for any kind of pretending in order to make himself look organized or perfect. He's just authentic and I can't believe how much similarity I see with his approach to some things and mine. I think it appeals to a lot of people to see any form of authenticity on social media nowadays, when everything is fake.

@@jacksmith-vs4ct makes it even more impressive, no? he could easily bring the big guns in and make a big show out of it, but clearly he's not about that. i can definitely appreciate and respect his realness. although I'm not too sure, if i can respect his choice of steak/meat. i mean wtf are these pathetic thin slices of meat? that's not steak, but thin meat strips most likely from eye/top round, which are some of the cheapest and toughest cuts of beef you can get. i think it's for making rouladen (german dish) or some shit actually. lmao. anyway, for steaks especially, dont cheap out on meat (quality), it's not worth it in order save a few dollars. steak/meat/food is not the thing to cheap out on imo, at least not to this extent. "du bist, was du isst" (= you are what you eat), as we like to say in germany. 😉

I get that. But I hope it shines a light on how it is to live that way and that people turn their life around after seeing it reflected through his disgusting life. I lived that way when I moved into my first apartment. So I do get it. That was also 20 years ago. And I grew up over a few years and learned how to not live like a gross troll. It's actually really weird that Asmon doesn't grow or try to grow beyond where he's at, especially when he has the resources to do so. I still like the dude and I do think he's "real", which is laudable, but he's not healthy or smart or living well or making responsible choices or acting like an adult or being a good role model or etc... like, he's stuck in a child's mentality, and other people using him as some standard of being "okay" to justify their own lifestyle is not a good thing at all. If you really do see similarities between you and him, then I highly recommend using that as a litmus test to know where you have issues and should improve... because basically everything he does is bad and wrong,

I very much and sincerely doubt he's happy. The man won't live past 50, I've been watching him since 2013, does he enjoy what he does? In a way, but is he happy deep down? Definitely not, I'd stake my life on him being chronically depressed inside at the very least given his extremely poor way of living, personal hygiene, panic and anxiety attacks and more. Just the fact alone that he chooses to live in a dirty collapsing house despite being a multi-millionaire company owner, with asbestos in the walls and blood marks across his bedroom wall from when he used to pick his decaying teeth that would bleed and wipe them across the wall is enough of an indicator that there are deep psychological issues inside there...

For the "what side do you make/eat with steak" question, I always have pretty much the same answer. I caramelize some onions and diced radishes with a bell pepper. It blew my mind a few years ago when I found out just how delicious fried radishes are. They get so sweet and savory and that kind of "spiciness" that radishes have totally goes away, same as it does with an onion. So great over a ribeye. Also, if you've not seen, Asmongold actually reacted to a video by a guy by the name of Beergr who did a really fantastic response suggesting ways to make even more delicious steaks that would fit Asmongold's... interesting palate.

@@ChefJamesMakinson yeah, he is a very interesting character. he made/makes millions online but lives exactly the same as when he was poor. broken old house and a moldy ancient car. he hates all luxury. he made a long video about it once. he said he likes the fact that his money gives him security in the background, but he sees zero value in any luxury, its all just dumb junk according to him. even the mattress he sleeps on he found at the side of a road, which is taking it a bit too far for me haha. he is extremely humble and said the only thing that has any real value are the people you care about. there is also a video about him in an animal sanctuary and they show him the various animals and you can really see the absolut joy and amazement when he meets the various creatures. i think his massive success comes from the fact that he is such an unlikely character that combines a lot extreme opposites: he lives like a half homeless with every aspect of his life but is a multi millionaire. he never had a "real" job in his life, but is very obviously very intelligent and extremely well spoken. he has strong opinions on everything and voices them clearly but he seems to be really himself and driven by when he feels is reasonable rather than following any "sides". there is just really nothing fake about him, he is just himself, its obvious that he has a good heart and he seems absolutely incorruptible by his success. nothing whatsoever about him and his life changed despite becoming one of the biggest streamers in the world. and that is something that is pretty much unseen, ever, so people are fascinated by him and like him.

Oh and if you want an odd plumbing story , instead of Scorpions clogging , imagine finding once coral reef snakes !! It was bsiacally because our city was originally a saltwater swamps , which they drained centuries ago , to built it . So our sewage systems are still just above sea water , with some of the sea occasionally rising and going underneath

If you do need a screw tightened back on a pan or pot and don't have one you can use the tip of a small spoon and butter knife to tighten it back till you get a screwdriver. Also a US dime will also work on most screws depending on the location of the screw and hole it is in.

On one hand, the way Asmon lives is... super weird and I battle with myself whether or not I am enjoining watching an untreated mentally ill person. On the other, he seems perfectly lucid, and actually smart when you listen to him.

It's certainly strange. Especially since he has the means to turn things around. Why eat 2 dollar steaks when you can easily afford to eat even the real expensive stuff the rest of your life? Lots of other questions popping up seeing him of course lol. He seems to make life so difficult while money can make it a lot easier & more enjoyable.

@@0xszander0 My grandparents (like many) lived through the widespread deprivations of the 1930s and 40s. They still had "stingy" habits long after they could afford to spend like normal people. My understanding is that Asmon's household was never on the wealthy side. His mother had health problems (she passed in 2021). He probably developed a miserly mentality and no amount of income will sway him into what he considers "wasteful" spending. Edit: Another example of this phenomenon is the highly popular media personality Clark Howard. Fabulously wealthy, but refuses to buy normal razors because single edge disposables are far more cost effective. You've probably heard his slogan at some point - "save more, spend less, and avoid rip-offs."

After so many years I'm still trying to figure out how to cook beef! I recently saw a chef's vid showing just oil in the pan, resting the steak on a cutting board over butter, salt and herbs, cutting it up, then mixing it all together - it looked so good I could almost smell it! I'd want it with lots of roasted veggies and a good bread on the side!

I LOVE doing it, it actually relaxes me (back in uni when I had to write scripts, I'd do the dishes to come up with ideas fr). Scorpions up in the toilet? Nightmare fuel 😱 I just remember when I first started rentinf, for some odd reason, whenever the upstairs apartment would do the laundry, their water would come out in our place. And once it got so bad that water once reached the main door 😅😅 a whole hallway+ living room flooded

However I find your videos more relatable and educational. I also love how you don’t make us viewers feel like less of a cook if we can’t invest in expensive equipment, and that’s although something might not be ideal, it’s ok if that’s all we have to work with. I’ve always been intimidated by cooking from scratch, but you’ve inspired me to try. ☺️

Asmongold is a really good entertainer and his cooking videos are fun to watch. Also very good reaction. Especially since his cooking probably makes most chefs want to pull out the hair from their head. Btw, he also has a pizza making video too. On another note, a scorpion from the toilet?! I still remember the shock of watching videos, where snakes come out of it. Guess it's another thing to add to the list of what I don't want to see coming up from there.

Le creuset pans and pots are really top tier. My mom turned 70 last year so she insisted that all of my and my brothers old friends are invited (those boys pretty much grew up at our kitchen table) and my firends threw together for a creuset pot after I assured them that my mom, who is a passionate cook, wouldn't be put off if they gifted a pot. I had the pleasure of cooking with it multiple times now when visiting her and I'm always amazed at how much difference a good pot can make!

Something to mention for those that don't know. Zack is a multi-millionaire and works and lives on his own schedule. He shared a home with his Mother, his Father moved out years ago, and they were a middle to low income family. When he became a successful streamer he paid off the mortgage on his Mom's house and remained living with her to help out. Despite his wealth he is very frugal with his money. Only really spending money on his Mom (until she passed a couple of years ago), eating out, and his friends. Many people asked why he didn't buy a larger house or upgrade and repair the house but his Mother didn't want him to.
