Do you use a b tank or Mc tank for your acetylene?

@@D2DNYAC thanks. I’m have issues with my Asco air torch setup being inconsistent when my Mc tank is under med but from med to full lt brazes very well. I’ll give the b tank a try maybe the larger size tank will help

Use a piece of cotton rag approximately 2 inches wide 12 inches long wet it dripping wet, then wrap it tightly around the pipe, while keeping it tucked to the unit and rubber grommet When you braze angle your torch so that the flame points away from the unit panels,and just go for it never be concerned about the grommet, try to braze the joint as fast as possible.

If your brazing skills is not up to par then have a spray bottle with water close so you can spray and re wet the rag on the fly, keep in mind if too much of the water evaporate from the rag then you can potentially ruin the grommet and whatever is attached to the pipe on the other side of the panels
