Pro Drifter Sim Drifting with No Handbrake! (DONT NEED IT!) My handbrake broke my racing simulator BUT I thought this would be a fun challenge to drift and tandem with no handbrake. This means a ton of left foot braking and some other interesting techniques to maintain proximity while drifting!

I remember about a year ago when I first got my wheel, I drove bare bones, no handbrake. Best decision I ever made. Better to learn without a handbrake and use it as a tool when I get it, than to learn with the handbrake and have to rely on it. My footwork is some of the best among my friends because of it and it made me a better sim drifter

when I first started driving with my sim and real life I practiced the hell out of left foot braking, it's good to not be dependent on the ebrake, I have an Ls s13 coupe with an r32 skyline front end, and my line ruptured for my ebrake at a local event and just finished the rest of the event without it. It's good to practice without it, you never know what happens. It would be Sick to tandem with you, you should come down to klutchkickerz sometime, once the Canada/border opens I'll be there, it sucks missing all the good events (I'm from Canada). (I left this message on your other video "my first tandems", and figured I'd resend it incase you didn't see it). Yo Haugen, I'm a really high level tandemer/drifter and I played with you a few days ago on "drifters paradise" with the ADC Cars. The best tip you could use is that you need to chill a bit with your chases until you get comfortable man, you need to just slowly creep up more and more/keep a solid 2 foot gap at least until you start getting really comfortable with it, not try to go balls to the wall the entire time leaving 0 room/pushing it to the limit the entire time like you are (especially in public servers with a lot of random ppl)... You have the skill but not the consistency yet so you can easily get on peoples doors and good proximity but you can not keep sufficient angle and deceleration when needed so to be able to keep the proper line. When you tandemed with me you were giving me literally 0 room on transition, had very little angle, were not using the brakes/were not the best at slowing down so It was really sketchy and hard to lead for you even as a really good lead driver/especially as a good lead driver trying to hit the proper lines. And I could see your still doing the same thing in both video's to say the least, even to the point where you had the easiest situation ever with like a full 3 second long corner in which you needed to just tap/massage the brakes or at least handbrake anytime during that full 3 seconds and get back into position, but instead you used 0 brakes or handbrake and messed up the leads run. Also (if you don't already know) i'm not positive but it seems like your car is doing the ghost front bumper thing where it does not hit for the first couple inches of the bumper (not sure what controls it but it happens sometimes, especially with certain cars), when it happens though it is obviously ALOT easier to keep proximity on transitions (especially at a high level because basically all of our mistakes are only because we were off by a couple of inches so it saves you from hitting every time unless you really mess up) and it's not proper to drift like that ofc so you should always make sure to pay attention to see if it is doing that or not once you start drifting each car.

I appreciate the feedback. Drifting is about learning and progressing. Sim drifting is great because there are no repercussions for mistakes. Everyone pushes way harder on sim the in real life. Idk what car you were and why you think I was driving so shitty but the day I had no handbrake was this video and either way both days I drove pretty damn well. Yes I drive very aggressively. Why wouldn’t you? I was bumped by other people and everyone made mistakes. I’m not mad at anyone for pushing themselves. The part about giving room, stop paying attention to people chasing you. The lead drivers responsibility is to lay down a good lead run. That’s it. It’s the followers responsibility to figure it out. I can think of literally one time where I didn’t give room. Either way I appreciate your feedback but I have no plans on changing my driving style. I’m trying to learn and elevate just like anyone else.

I only drove with you for a couple laps on and off as you kept messing up and not keeping up and then when you did keep up you were literally on my door with at least half my angle and no brakes and I am good enough to know when I need to watch the person following me and when I don't, and you most certainly were someone that I needed to pay attention to so you were making it super sketchy to lead especially because I do perfect lead runs and for a few corners it is a slightly different line then basically anyone else takes so it was even more sketchy because I didn't have the confidence in you to accurately adjust because of all the bad signs you've gave me. As I said we only did less then a handful of laps on and off and then you ended up leaving (it was on the day you did the "my first tandems" video) I ofc am not saying you are bad, but for your ACTUAL skill level/what you could be driving like (based off your IRL skill) obviously as you would agree ofc you are pretty bad and you need to get use to sim/get your settings perfected quite a bit still. I understand you drive really aggressively and I most certainly do to, but the difference is that I can consistently do basically ENDLESS laps of perfect tandems not messing up in any way and I am not even exaggerating when I say endless laps (with a proper lead ofc). Then there is you that basically can't even do whole lap without any major corrections or big mistakes yet you try to literally get even better then pro level proximity all the time, rather then actually focusing on all the aspects of tandeming and taking it the tiniest bit less aggressive so you can actually be consistent and get super fast practice/progression/get to the skill level you actually are 10x faster then the way you are driving. You are doing yourself a huge disservice by trying to drive like that and I can confidently tell you that it will take you literally way over 10x longer to get to the skill level you actually are because you are giving yourself terrible practice by messing up every couple corners/laps at the best because of the way your trying to drive (also as a little hack tip: I found that trying to lay down high point lead runs for my first 10-30 mins to warm up is wayy wayy more efficient for warming up and getting super confident with the car rather then trying to warm up with tandems, and if you try to just warm up with tandems it will take so much longer to warm up and get to your proper skill level it is insane). Once again man everything I say is out of love as I am in the same boat as you and can see the things you are doing/not doing that are holding you back a lot and that I wish I had someone tell me. Anyways hopefully you take my advice/apply it in your own way so you can get up to your actual skill level asap, looking forward to driving with you here and there man.

Amazing video I don’t have a handbrake so have to left foot brake all the time, I also use a button on the wheel for e brake so I have to keep track of where the wheel is but that’s not hard when you get used to it

Just a genuine tip if you don’t want to hear the squeaking either a little bit of lithium grease or WD-40. Actually white lithium grease (the thick stuff) will probably be better. Love your videos.

I would recommend getting some WD-40 and spraying it on your throttle! That’ll stop the squeaky noise! Every few months or so on all your pedals to keep them lubricated. Regardless, awesome job man! Some high quality drifting content you have there ! 🤙🏻

Let's play some assetto, I would defo advise to keep doing this track without handbrake it's gonna really make your transition timing and dives super accurate. And with there only being 1 corner you have to slow in, you don't really need to use reverse entries either. I have a lot of clutch tips that help with the no handbrake chase👌

"I broke my e-brake" Looks like its as loose as the one on my 96' B14 200SX I can lift her up all the way with just a pinkie....she possibly needs work lol. Also not legitimately having an e-brake to use helps you fine tune other skills while you wait for a new one. (I think you said you got a new one but it might be being shipped?) I enjoy watching this channel a lot. Keep posting the sim drifting videos. I am enjoying you rolling with the flow like drifting without a handbrake which could actually happen at a real event not sure if they would let your car be legal or not of course you would know that though I don't know rules in regards to that.

I found this video very helpful cause I played on this server all day yesterday and instead of using the handbrake on a couple of the turns you pointed out, I found myself always left foot braking when doing tandems instead. Ima hop back on today and see how the handbrake helps me. (note: is there a reason why the framerate is so low?)

damm F handbrake, kinda knew it wouldn't last with that big Katana, but that's a common problem with the fanatec clubsport handbrakes, i know you gonna fix yours but if one day you decide to get a new one i would recommend a Heusinkveld loadcell handbrake, that one is unbreakable, can take up to 200kg force.

i had the same problem when i first started on Assetto Corsa, due to the fact that Content Manager comes with the "missing" filter checked, so servers that you don't have cars or the track wont show up, to find servers with alot of ppl make sure you uncheck that filter, go to online > kunos and type drift in the search box then sort by connected drivers, u gonna find lots of servers filled with ppl.

@@michaelschnell9394 np m8, also make sure to bookmark the servers, for instance in my bookmarks right now there's 8 drift servers with 10+ players some of them even filled with 20 players, not sure why content manager comes with that filter checked, alot of ppl think that theres no drift servers goin on other than the ones running the drift track and the bmw car that comes with the game because of that filter.

Handbrake probably broke because it was to tall and heavy for a gaming handbrake. To much leverage on it, i would just use the normal handle on your next, I'm sure it would happen on a new one. They aren't built like ones for irl drifting.
