It's really interesting to see how much technique actually accounts for. These guys represent the upper most tier of human fitness and had problems were magnus made it look easy.

I’d expect gymnasts to understand movement on the wall better, but I guess it’s different from their sport. I imagine they’d be good at campus boulders

@@alexantone5532 honestly, gyimnastics isn't the most "creative" sport.. you have predetermined moves, mostly, which you train unto perfection. There's actualy a word for "understanding movement", sort of how quickly do you grasp how you need to move in a specific situation (I forgot what the word for it is), but it's apparently a relatively specific skill that some people are naturaly better or worse at. You'd actualy expect to find this skill more prevalent in people that do sports where you constantly need to adjust according to the current situation, like for example MMA, in gymnastics you don't actualy need that much of it when you think about it.

I feel like it's pretty normal for it to be different. There's Professional rock climbers, and then there are professional Rock climbers. I'm not entirely sure which one magnus is, but it seems pretty obvious that there's a difference between them.

Loved this video and I was super surprised though, I expected you guys to find it much easier. Im 41 just had 9 years off climbing, I'm overweight, unfit and weaker. I just went back bouldering for the first time a couple of days ago, and I was able to comfortably complete V3-4's so I'm pretty blown away.

yeah I noticed that too, it shows a very good foot positionning and bodyweight control when you see someone climb so silently in a gym. I like it, it the ninja style !

One thing you can do as a training exercise is climb as silently as possible. This is great for beginners, to get their minds away from grabbing everything with too much power and focusing more on your feet. It's good for coordination and also, naturally, gives you some more strenght, because you have to hold on longer for precise positioning of the feet - at least in the beginning.

@@milz7129 Mesternes Mester, translates to Champion of Champions. It's a Norwegian show where retired successful athletes from all kinds of sports compete in a series of different physical and mental challenges. It was filmed last year but is airing now and Magnus is one of three people left.

Maybe a question for a Q&A but I saw you say recently that you try to keep out all of the negatives or stress from filming and creating the videos and since then I have really noticed how positive everything around the videos is. I have been watching the channel since the early days and I hadn't really noticed that before. The way you approach the channel is so professional and it shows in the quality of the videos and editing, and you seem to have such a good overall idea of what you want to put out. Was the video editing and planning something that came naturally to you or did you have to work it at it a lot and perhaps read into it? Follow up: Have you ever edited a video and then decided that you did not like it and decided not to post it? Potential idea for a video, behind the scenes on a Midtbø shoot. Haha

I enjoy watching Magnus struggle outside his comfort zone, so gymnastics should be fun... But there's still a lot of overlap with climbing. What I really want to see is Magnus doing wrestling/jiu jitsu with someone who actually teaches him basic sweeps and submissions.

Climbing is so specific and sometimes counterintuitive that even if you're strong as a top tier gymnast the struggle is gonna be real. The Finger strength, propioception and will that bouldering require are not easily acquired.

I'd wish to see those guys climbing more, with their fitness, once they get how their body works, leverages, center of mass, balance and after a lot of techniques and general forced moves, they'll be quite at magnus level, a bit under experienced but basically at a very good level. When you guys were talking about how it sucks to suck at something you really want to do, it made me sad. Because I have something just like that. I'm 32 and I've always wanted to be a good singer. But I never had anyone encourage me or teach me at all so I sang improperly my whole life and have done irreversible damage to my voice and I'm getting old now so I'll never be able to sing 😢 But I'm falling in love with climbing and I'm about to join a rock wall gym I visited for the first time yesterday. I grew up hiking and climbing in the mountains but I've gotten out of shape and Magnus has inspired me to start climbing for real and get in better shape and I'm so excited! So, thank you, Magnus, and you are absolutely incredible! Not just at climbing, but as a person, too. You're so nice and down to earth and funny. I can't wait to see more vids of you with Heria, Zach King, and Felix ❤

Hej Magnus! Do a video with routesetters and they can explain a little bit on how they grade the boulders. Then they can build a V15 for the Magnus V15 Boulder Challenge :)
