Important update for latest version of Nuke NC: For every reformat node, you now need to switch the resize type to "none" and uncheck "center". This should fix the issue and ensure the setup works as intended. Let me know in the comments if it works for you or if you run into any other issues!

I'm very confused by this, I've used a similar approach before but I was looking for a less manual/tedious way of doing it when I found this. Thing is, reproducing every step in this doesn't produce the same result, it just outputs HD resolution images of the whole image and not cropped tiles. Has anything changed since to prevent this workaround from working ?
@s0mefrench2 күн бұрын
Turns out, probably nothing changed but the process shown here is incorrect/incomplete right ? The transforms don't do anything beside sliding the image sideways from the center, so the whole left part of the full resolution desired image is not going to be exported in any of the write nodes. Plus the reformat nodes should be set to resize "none" or it won't behave as shown here. Will update if I can solve this damn puzzle, for posterity.

@@s0mefrench Thanks for your feedback! I understand the frustration-managing all those steps manually can be tedious. The process is correct-or at least it was. I just checked in the latest version of Nuke, and it seems the behavior of the reformat node has changed. Now you need to force "none" in the reformat node, but unfortunately, doing so breaks the rest of the setup. It weird this setup worked for years. It’s frustrating when updates impact workflows like this. Let me know if you find a workaround-I'd love to hear about it! Only very recently, I stumbled across of a tool called "TL_TileRender V2_Beta" by Thiago Batista. This tool simplifies the entire process by exporting a multi-layer EXR with tiles, making it way more efficient than the manual approach. You can find more details in Thiago’s LinkedIn post here: bit.ly/4fKzapr And here's the direct link to the gizmo: bit.ly/4iYxjQR. I hope this helps streamline your workflow! Let me know how it goes! 😊

@@PrimalVFX Seems like it does, thank you ! Now I'd just have to figure out the exact transform values for my own output resolution. I'll see about this tool if it avoids having to both build and complete the puzzle haha ! I wouldn't be surprised if Foundry updated the reformat as a petty way to prevent this sort of workaround from working easily.

this is kinda random but I want to render in 1920 by 1920 and I know the limit is 1920 by 1080 but does switching the 1080 to 1920 go against the license as well forcing me to do this trick (technically my footage is 2560 by 2560 but im outputting in 1920)
@PrimalVFXАй бұрын
@JRBEditor yes sadly it goes against the free version and you will have an error message. You need to do this trick. Everything bigger than 1920 in width and/or bigger than 1080 height you are blocked by nuke

Is there a similar way to do it when it comes to videos, not only static images? How would you combine them?
@PrimalVFX7 ай бұрын
Yes sure, It's exactly the same process, for all the write nodes choose sequence and then you can do the stitches on After Effects with sequences in a comp. Very similar process. ⚡🦾

@@PrimalVFX Sounds counterproductive. Why use two compositing softwares?
@PrimalVFX6 ай бұрын
It is just if you want to use nuke for free and be able to export larger than Full Hd... They are other solutions to merge titled exr via python and gui libraries but more complex to handle.
