Pro hairdresser cuts hair using only gardening tools

Hi Beautiful! Today I was challenged to do a VERY creative haircut using only gardening tools. It was SO hard!! How do you think I did?

So as someone who actually uses these gardening tools, I can tell instantly which tools will or won’t work to cut hair. The folding serrated saw won’t cut the hair at all. I’m freaked out about them giving Brad a power tool chainsaw because it’s actually crazy dangerous to use in this manner because it will violently yank the hair up towards to chain/blades. So if Brad holds the hair taught with a super tight grip and then attempts to use the power saw to cut the hair- it could yank his hand towards the blades with disastrous results if he doesn’t let go of either the hair (or the power button) fast enough. If he has a loose hold on the hair or tries the power saw without holding onto the hair, the rotating DEFINITELY will suck the hair up into the chain. I hope he doesn’t try it at all, but if he does…🤞🏼🤞🏼 he’s super careful 🫣 Also- in order for the large shears and such to have the slightest chance of cutting, they really need to be oriented correctly with the blade on top coming down to cut the hair, and the hair itself will need a ton of tension applied to it. The big shears and the lopper tool (the one Brad was having intrusive thoughts about) are used on thick, sturdy branches and such- things that wont bend. They hold firm as the blade cuts through. When they’re used on narrow, flimsy vines (think ivy) or anything with flexibility that can bend without breaking, the vine basically just bends between the 2 fingers of the shears/loppers because not enough resistance is offered from the vine. If you tried to cut a piece of string, it will do the same. Even though the blades are super sharp, without tension (resistance) on the string, it will just bend/fold between the middle of the shears. Hair will react this same way and even if it’s held taught- it due to the size of the blades, I’m pretty sure the hair will just fold thru between the blade side and the stop side of the big shears and loppers. The assorted smaller sized herb snips however, are freaking SUPER sharp and will work out excellent for cutting the hair. He could even use the blade on whichever is the sharpest and instead of cutting, if he manually moved sections of hair across the blade it would act as a razoring method. I love it, so excited to see him do this! What a fun challenge! ♥️ Edited to correct spelling errors and make grammatical changes for the sake of clarity.

When I was 13, 44 years ago, my Grandma took me to Vidal Sassoon in ATL for my birthday. I’d never been to a fancy salon, it was amazing! I wanted my waist length very thick hair cut into a chin length bob. I will never forget this, the stylist, Joseph, tied my hair up on top of my head with a piece of rope and chopped off my hair with gardening shears! No joke! It was like a show he put on! The cut turned out great after some detailing and I came away with quite the birthday experience!!

I would be absolutely terrified if a hair stylist suddenly came up to me with gardening tools. LOL This is a fun idea though. Ok I already thought Brad's face when he pulled out the giant bolt cutters was priceless, but then it got even better when he scared himself with the minni chainsaw!🤣 I have to admit that I'm not really surprised that certain tools didn't cut. If a blade isn't razor sharp it's not going to cut hair very well. Scissors can sometimes still work when they're not super sharp because of the pressure they create, but even they can just fail at cutting if they're not sharp enough.

I'd love to see Brad do a whole cut with just a Surgical scalpel. You can do a full cut with a razor, and a scalpel is essentially a razor, only there's no safety guard on it like you get with a standard hair dressing razor like a safety razor or feathering razor. I'd also like to see Brad do a cut with only razors - all different kinds of razors like the safety razor, feathering razor, electric razor etc. as it would show ya can do a great cut with a razor and it'd be awesome to compare the different razors and their pros and cons!

When she got married her husband who will fully agree is 6ft 2" and clueless in Garden and DIY so is designated tea maker had let his house decline... Very lucky to get on housing ladder at young age but as I say clueless spent all time in 1 room gaming... grass in back was over 5ft tall my daughter is 4ft 11"you could not see her. In 4 years all maintainence of house sorted and decorated what she did not know she has self taught and garden amazing wildlife sanctuary. There is bit of wild garden, vegetables and herbs, loads of recycled containers growing things in old kids swimming pools, tyres, plastic boxes, fruit trees and bushes just a riot of colour. Folk have donated cuttings and plants that look dead and she brings them to life. Although my daughter has some challenging disability she is out in garden daily even if having to shuffle on her bum around containers on her good days she helps her elderly neighbour maintain her garden and friends get fresh veggies as gifts as she is unable to work as her needs vary day to day and no employer will make adjustments... They do not know what they are missing a hard working and loyal person who will go extra mile. Purchasing tools so expensive but always makes for easy Birthday, Christmas or just because I love her gift.
