I purchased the Masterclass the year before Covid. I have been cutting my own hair ever since. I bought the 360 degree mirror that was recommended and use it when I cut and color. I have been coloring my own hair for at least 20 years, but I learned some excellent tips in the class.

I love that you’re teaching people how to give themselves some fresh looks at home. I figured out how to do this myself about 9 years ago, and it is easy. I watched how my hair stylist did my hair each time. She moved away, and I wasn’t stuck. 😃 This ability to do my own hair saves me so much on haircuts. 🤙🏽

I've only been to the salon a few times in my life. I gave myself cuts and then about 15 years ago i flipped my head upside-down, brushed it all even and just cut across; and when i flipped my head back up i had a great cut and to my suprise also front layers. I've cut my hair that way ever since.

Just bought the course and I am SO EXCITED that you offer this!! I became my own hair person during Covid and like many of us...ruined my hair by making every mistake possible and having zero clue what I was doing. Then my hair was falling out due to a medication I took for a year. Now...I am on the other side of that hellish nightmare and my hair is growing back. My hair journey will be simply growing it out and trimming it myself this year, allowing time to do the rest. I already feel relief from watching the first intro video. It will help confirm some of the stuff I learned the hard way. Thank you so much for being here. Happy 2024.

This is an overall confidence-builder in that the video is not shot by the person cutting their hair, but of the person cutting their hair, and the specific instructions are great. But I wish the person that demonstrated did not have such short, layered hair already. I really needed to see it done with long hair that has the layers all grown out to see how to cut a clean line when there is no visual from other layers to guide you.

Love this tutorial, I have been cutting my own hair for years because it's long, curly, voluminous but thin and, at several hair salons, despite asking to just layer it, they always cut my length a lot. Now I'm the one who cuts the ends every now and then and layered. I took a look at your videos, I've seen some, but I don't see much about curly hair... Do you think it's an unflattering hair type? Many times, when people can't find a stylist they love, they still want a cut they like. In those cases, they deserve to have a tool to achieve that for themselves. The idea that at home tutorials somehow discount salons is a lack mindset view of the landscape. I've taught clients my entire career, how to cut their bangs at home so they didn't have to make a special trip to me for it. I still had clients....and they still needed bang trims at times. It'a a bit like microwave meals. Just because people have the ability to cook easy meals at home doesn't stop them from going out to eat. It may entice some people to eat out less but it's still an entirely different experience. I also don't feel that cooking at home discounts the skills of a good chef. I would argue it gives people a better respect for how hard it is to be really good at it. I think, in many cases (I'm not talking about you since I have no idea how you approach social media), stylists saw a landscape that changed through Covid but didn't change their business to adjust for it. I actually attribute some of this to companies that dove into education for stylists during Covid, but only taught them more cutting/coloring skills instead of how to adjust their social media to grow a business when they COULDN'T actually cut or color clients. It truly frustrated the crap out of me that theses large companies wouldn't help stylist learn to earn money when they couldn't get behind the chair because it didn't help sell the companies products. I still see stylists being taught (and doing) the same old thing with social, posting a back of the head photo on Instagram or Tik Tok of their recent work OR letting people know how many openings they have that week etc. That may have worked a few years ago but now, they just get lost in the crowd. Everyone does that so all the feeds look the same and new clients can't tell the difference. Covid brought in a culture of education for everyone. I would love to see stylists spend less time showing their work (which is still important and valid) and more time educating clients on the problems the client is facing and how to help them solve those problems. After the salons were re opened (and I had taught many of my clients to do their own hair) I found that not only was I able to "share all my secrets online", it was the act of sharing those secrets that grew an audience and had me booked solid for a year with a waiting list, and new clients flying from all over the states for appointments. That is NOT a humble brag (trust me, I'm VERY aware there are SO many extremely talented stylists out there, many have more talent than I will ever have), it's simply to express the importance of using social to add value vs simply sharing a portfolio. Solve peoples problems and you become the authority.

@@justinhickoxhope that commenter (that likely had A LOT of open slots on their book this week)finally understands logic. Maybe too young to understand people which is a huge part of customer service, or perhaps just angry at the world but your words are 100%fact. I'm 52 and I'm not allowed to touch my hair with scissors anymore 😢😂 Per my sister and my stylist!

Haha! You’re not alone. Luckily, sounds like you have a stylist you can count on! Unless you guys get in an argument before she cuts your hair! lol.

@@justinhickoxI've always been bad to whack at my hair if it isn't doing something right. They always have fix it after LOL. I've been banned from scissors now.

Me too!! I trimmed my daughter's bangs when she was young and it didn't go well. I kept trying to even it out. 🤦‍♀️ Apparently, it was extremely traumatic for her because she's 31 and is still not over it!

So please tell what is the difference between this and a wolf cut if you want layers? Because it seemed to me the wolf cut was easier

The maser class pricing has bundle almost same price as separate. Is that correct? I'm just interested in hair cut not coloring. Thanks.

I may have to try this… I have all of these tools already, because I’ve been cutting my son’s hair and my husband’s hair for years. My son has so much coarse, thick, wavy hair, if I don’t thin it, he gets what looks like a giant brown helmet after just a couple weeks after cut. 😂

Great question. I have a few videos on hot to cut short pixie haircuts as well as how to cut men’s cuts with clippers. Everything from Bob length to my length hair is covered.

I have very long fine hair, should I use texture scissors even though my hair is fine?

You totally can! Only if there’s a line and you need to blend it though. You may not need to use them.

How do I as a blonde make sure that my mid to ends will be soft and silky feeling? What are the best products please! I need help. I usually use a hair oil with a leave in conditioner and a heat protectant, and still my hair feels fried I don’t know what to do….

When coloring or bleaching your Hair @ keep fabulous and healthy you must use oval Plex in your bleach or your colors. You will be amazed how your hair becomes healthy when you condition use cool or Warm water only and don’t strip all the conditioner off your hair. You don’t necessarily need to condition your scalp every time. Also, don’t shampoo every day and don’t use Violet shampoo each and every time but you can condition often without shampooing. Hope this helps.

Let's say someone parted their hair straight down the middle front to back, pulled one entire side, including the hair from the back of it and done this than done the other side the same. a) would this put layers all through including the back? b) how would the back turn out? Would it be even and would the ends be super thin and wispy? c) would the back be in a "v" or "u" angle, or would it be straight across in the back?

Isn’t this an angle as opposed to layers? When I tell a stylist I want this, I say I want the front angled away from my face.
