This is the first time I have ever left a comment on a video--this video is sooo very helpful. I am somewhat advanced and get tired of having to wade through beginner info to get a couple of gems. This has gems all the way through with things that I can implement easily and others that will take a bit of time. Please do more videos like this one! TY! I even started listening to John on Spotify! His style is what I would call "accessibly advanced." ty!

Working on this song now for the lead sheet portion of my key of F month. Needless to say, mine doesn’t sound like this! But I think there are bits and pieces I can use. This was great!

The clarity and detail make this a great tutorial. We get less of the:- " And then I just did this-twiddle- twiddle - nice playing - twiddle twiddle" school of piano teaching, which only "teaches" confusion and low self-esteem ... And more of the:- " I'll show you in a way that is accessible" Yes. It requires a relatively good understanding of jazz harmony but that is only because of its intermediate/ advanced level. Thank you John

As usual, John has gifted us another gorgeous rendition of his music style. Not for beginners, but If you haven't viewed his other arrangements, you are certainly missing some exceptional listening & learning.

Amazing lesson John ,thank you! Please could you make a lesson on 'THAT'S LIFE' (Sinatra) sometime (?) There seem's a similarity in feel of both songs though 'That's Life' get's neglected (IMO) it's a song that makes a superb solo piano piece & makes a great Jazz-Blues alternative(I also relate to the lyric statement more than I do 'Georgia')

@@PianoWithJonny That would be AMAZING John! I'd love to play that tune it's got attittude. Invokes images swinging in Vegas with Sinatra & Sammy Davis.

If you played That's Life in the key of F, you find the progression is not far apart from Georgia On My Mind.

Excellent playing. Ray Charles was your inspiration, but your version came out sounding a little more like Dr. John's style.

the arrangement is really beautiful but when you make changes/substitutions to the chords in the lead sheet I lose track of where you are and why you made those changes and just end up really confused

Don’t know where to post this question. I am slightly confused by their being more than one Jonny in this channel and I just saw another guy using this same account that makes it 3 Jonnys. I would be nice if you gave your subscribers a heads up 😮😮😮

Jonny May is the lead instructor, but he has many excellent other instructors including John P featured here. I have been learning from their website for three years and can highly recommend them.
