when you tell him his rhythm variation is bad, you need to show him good rhythm variation and point out why his is bad. What did u do instead? "oH brO iF tHe SoNG rEPeatS ItSELf sO ShOUlD tHE MaP" (skill issue, u just don't know how to do rhythm variation), "oH tHIS tRIpS uP tHe PlAYeR" (it doesn't btw, it sucks for completely different reasons)

It's a fair take though. If you want to make it more interesting it should not be such a sudden change in rhythm choice. A gradual change over the entire section would work tho.

​​@@hachikuji_mayoibtmc did do it wrong but slight rhythm variety (something like alternating between 2 different rhythms every) is important especially when mapping very repetitive music, else the player just falls asleep, also do not just put random gradual changes if the song does not call for it

the real issue is that he started immediately focusing on visuals rather than rhythm and intensity, which kind of make up the fundamentals of mapping as it is a rhythm game at the end of the day

What he meant by "map stays the same", is that while the song doesn't change or changes very slightly, you should keep the pattern ideas the same and not drastically change them. If you decide to map a certain rhythm in a section you should map the exact same rhythm in all other sections with it as long as song intensity stays unchanged
