Great video! great car! My mom had a '62 impala but 4 door. She didn't race it but it was a pretty nice car. Thanks for sharing this video! I am a daughter of a drag racer.

Looks like the 55 might have got him at the end! It may be the 55 pro mod that Jeff Blackburn now owns.

Back then the tires were junk, you had to had them really HOT before you could get ANY traction.Today's STREET tires have as much traction as the slicks of the day.Now you need little if any real heating to go fast. I started racing in 1968 , yep I am old!

Why did it take about 3-1/2 minutes to even start the race?
@MarkMeadows903 жыл бұрын
It's all about the prepping. Spraying the burnout box with water. Car rolls up, does a burnout to heat up the tires. Reverses back into staging area. Rolls up to the staging lights. And launches. Prepping and skill work to get the quickest elapsed time. That's what drag racing is all about.

that's not a impala ...that's a bel air lol
@gpokrywiecki10 жыл бұрын
this is not a Bel Air and not a Impala too, this is a Chevy Biscayne 409 1962. You can confirm this in the book: Vintage and Historic Drag Racers
@chadshepard344910 жыл бұрын
watch the full clip. it says bel air on the side .
@jvracingvids652910 жыл бұрын
Chad Shepard definitely a Biscayne, the belaire is more round, front end not as wide as the impala or biscayne. look up robby Walden, hes got a 62 belair all white, ran 7.0s back in the days.
