@GunShocka6 жыл бұрын
medrano433 if you forget your martial arts training once you get into a fight then you haven’t trained enough. You will know you have if getting into that stance is your natural fighting stance upon instinct. I get what your saying but people who say this are generally those who don’t practice very often or have little to no confidence in their prowess with the art thus abandoning it. Cause I always take my TKD stance out of instinct and I had a boxing friend who always took his boxing stance. And that was just purely instinctual. It’s actually hard for me to take any other stance as my body isn’t accustomed to moving such a way for battle purposes.
@JSpidey6 жыл бұрын
Like others have said, if you train enough you'll instinctively know what to do at that moment without needing to think about it.. That's why the Marines, Seals, Special Forces etc train so rigorously because once you get into combat you can't think, but use survival instincts you've acquired in training.

You realize unarmed combat in a self defense scenario is way different than military training. People like law enforcement and military get more training in things like firearms. Someone who goes to an mma gym for a couple months would probably be better in a unarmed fight scenario than a cop or ex military

Typically it's different, conditions vary, you do not try to punch someone with a fish if he's wearing a helmet, I've seen a few styles where you use open hands and focus the base of your palm instead.. key point to remember tho, is that if you do decide to go for a fist, use the knuckle on your middle finger, because that's the one least likely to break, and rotate so the knuckle hits first, you can feel the vibrations even through boxing gloves if you hit right, above all dont get hit, there may be another person on lookout, don't try to wrestle to the ground, because someone walks up and kicks your head you're injured, stay up I'm neutral if you can

A trained fighter typically plans to, and returns, to chamber position (where he is ready to strike again and is balanced), unless his strike or combination throws opponent off balance or slows him down. That makes any attempts at longer response techniques, joint locks and throws difficult. You can see it during judo or wrestling competitions where fighters constantly react and withdraw when they feel an attempt to unbalance or set up joint locks. An arm can retract and chamber for another strike much faster than a whole body could move to execute a throw or a joint lock. The moment you touch an opponent with a trap he can react much faster by withdrawing - reacting to tactile clues. That's almost instinctive in anyone with any sparring experience. Striking without trapping requires opponent to rely on visual clues and so is harder to evade. To hit hard you have to wind up and involve the body - that takes time during which the opponent can move out of position, while the hitter can throw himself off balance if he misses. To hit fast you need to rely on arm speed and positioning yourself closer to an opponent and the hit can be taken without much effect by someone who has experience being hit, particularly when adrenaline flows through the body and the person already attacking you is focused on hurting you rather than worried about being hit. In videos of this sort most of these principles are ignored. The techniques work because they're practiced as if they would work. To anticipate the effect of a blocking or striking technique required to slow down the opponent in preparation for a takedown or joint lock, is not really possible - until it actually happens. So there is a decision point in the middle of a longer combination. If you go ahead without checking - turning your back to throw, or swinging an arm out of position - you are as likely to get thrown yourself or hit from another angle. Those arts that allow training in the form closest to actual application - judo, wrestling, and boxing - because they have been made 'safe' through modification of techniques or use of protective gear are most likely to perform as intended - barring a far more skilled opponent or just luck. The first thing that happens in the mind of someone not used to being hit - when they get hit - is wanting to be someplace else - which really slows down reaction time. Someone who's never fought before, on the other hand, can accidentally score because their decisions and movements are awkward and unpredictable - this isn't so much a problem in unarmed combat, but becomes one when weapons are involved. Knives, for example, are very hard to evade when handled by people who are nervous and tight. The techniques shown in this video are unlikely to work against a larger, heavier opponent. The strikes can't really be practiced safely during training so their actual effectiveness can not be accurately measured in preparation for a real fight - that leads to a delusion that just going through a motion with some speed will produce a result like trapping or off-balancing. Aikido-ka practice staying relaxed when attacking - as do the men in the video - instinctive reaction in a fight is to tighten a joint that's being moved out of position. There is a certain amount of time before attempting to use these techniques actually improves ones ability in a street fight. Practicing in a friendly environment of a class at a well lighted local gym at predetermined times of day and week is worth about 5% of what it would likely take to be effective. To start protecting yourself, it's much better to review ones habits and deliberately avoid situations where fighting /attack is more likely to occur. Criminals often stake out a victim over time watching for repeated patterns of movements - so parking in the same spot and leaving work at the same time, is not helping. The next best investment would be some running skills. Studies have shown that when women are attacked - for example - those most successful break grip and run - don't get involved in striking or takedowns. Studies have also shown that when criminals were given a choice of victims, they would choose those moving awkwardly, looking down on the ground, or overburdened with bags - with their hands occupied. So an investment in a Pilates class - improving ones posture and movement - would most likely pay off long before a martial arts class did. Those that propose to teach others how to be effective in a fight have a responsibility to provide accurate information and a full context. As someone already mentioned, these fight sequences would look great in a movie - they look like they make sense.

All those joint locks and armlocks don't work on a person who at least had been training two years, and on a person who's bigger & stronger than you
@Jericho118947 жыл бұрын
Technically they can work since they are just variations on what has the highest percentage of working on an opponent. However, considering that you are referring to a person who has either more unhealthy weight (fat) or healthy weight (muscle mass), you would most likely have to strike more vulnerable areas before applying a lock. For instance, I remember when a step brother of mine who weighs about 65lbs heavier than me asked what I would do to a bigger opponent. I replied by saying I would go for his joints and tender muscle areas that happen to have vulnerable nerves with some heavy striking and manipulative grappling. He still didn't know what I meant so I showed him. We both got into a fighting stance and I did a high feint followed by a low lunge position which he naturally reacted by getting ready to sprawl, however it was too late because my aim was not to grapple but to apply a standard lead elbow strike his knee. He actually was impressed and said "Damn. That would've #$%&ed up my knee!". The point is that when a person expects you to use a certain technique, you have to remember not to be married to it, but to change your flow when necessary. These guys in the vid are applying that concept very well considering that rear naked choke attempt failed, but then they flowed into striking. Now that is how you fight! Would love to train with these guys! Sorry for the long response. I just love this stuff!

Only problem is, in a real fight there is a lot more forward momentum, especially against someone who doesn't know how to fight. Thats why a lot of people grab and hold. Most punched are wide and looping and most defense is a lean back at the waist and the feet are stuck in the mud. I've trained for years in Judo and Jiu jitsu and if I even get into a street fight, I'm taking it down quickly. Ive seen a lot of these fights online where even if the fight hits the ground, fight on top will stand up and throw punches, legs are there to be taken easily. Hopefully I never have to use it but my instructor calls it "tru jitsu" cause it's all real life stuff, how things truly are in a situation like that.

if you submit one guy and he has a few friends around the others will get you, taking a fight to the ground in real life is suicide,

@@jasoncarson1043 In Krav Maga they teach fighting on the ground techniques, but only for if you were taken down, they state the importance of not staying on the ground if you find yourself there and how dangerous it is because of hidden knifes, guns or bystanding allies of your foe. On the ground in marshal arts on a mat is one thing, on the ground on the streets is a deadly gamble. I would suggest if you like to learn on a side how real life fights are and learn how to NOT go to the ground, how to get away from the ground as fast as possible if you find yourself there, also how to either knock out, brake, maim or in extreme cases kill. That will make you confident and even thou it seems unlikely it will make you much more appreciative of life. You will be someone not to be messed with. The most dangerous person is usually the most calm no matter the situation.

I think you need to redo this video in the same format as your “gun disarms - a reality check”. Because this Steven Seagal stuff isn’t cutting it.

I don't think trained people walk around town and just randomly engage in combat for whatever reason. " trained people " (as you put it), won't get involved into quarrels of any kind, just because they know better...

Russel Adams, no, aikido and jujitsu is maybe 20-30% useful, cuz this videotechniques work only against not too strong opponents/good trained ones, hence these techniques work only in 75% of the cases, and of this is only 20% jujitsu and aikido. I see here also systema, wing chun and krav maga.
@ondrejfoltyn82856 жыл бұрын
Oh my god guys please stop saying what you see in the video. All martial arts (without rules) are the same. So yes, there is Karate, there is Aikido, there is Judo, there is Wing Chun, there is Kung Fu, there is some Filipino thing.
