Just a heads up to everyone, this is a Pakistani song and Coke Studio is a Pakistani music platform. They are singing in Urdu. Indian music is of course similar as the subcontinent was one before the partition of India and Pakistan. However, this talent is all from Pakistan. Thanks!

He is an awesome singer. Basically a Pakistani musician, primarily of Qawwali, a devotional music of the Muslim Sufis. Khan is one of the biggest and highest paid singers in Pakistan. He is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and also grandson of Qawwali singer Fateh Ali Khan. Check out his Nobel Prize performance and others.

The last part Rahat went bananas, is a renditionf of raag - technically its a rendition of ‘raag’ in which music piece is composed. Such renditions of raags is extremely difficult and rock singers cant even do it unless they have formally trained in classical music. The lady singer couldnt do it because it requires a very long arduous formal training. Bear in mind that This was just a short commercialized version of the raag rendition. There is a much more musical and melodious form of such renditikns.If uou want to enjoy a glimpse pf a melodious raag rendition, then you should check out Coke Studio song ‘Chaap Tilak’ by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Abida Perveen and you can enjoy a man and a lady BOTH going ‘bananas’ just far more profoundly *intoxicati* than this song. From that classical point of view, the lady singer in this song actually brought the quality of music way down from its original classical form. Ut check out the song I recommended.

@@bartonbagnes4605 Pakistan was never part of India, both Pakistan and India were part of Dominion of British India both India and Pakistan got their freedom from the British roughly at the same time. Hindi and Urdu are mutually intelligible languages but use different writing scripts. Just like India, Pakistan is also very rich in cultural and ethnic diversity, Urdu even though the national language is not spoken as the first language by most Pakistanis.
