I’m a kook surfer and Buddhist Hospital Chaplain and so I am around death everyday - although I listen to the podcast for the giggles, I appreciate the conversation around death. watching the don't be a kook segment- I think this kind of stuff really taps into the best of SS. I just watched him being interviewed on surf splendor, from a year ago it said, and he was asked about what he wanted to do going forward in terms of media and movies and cetera. His response was really interesting because he'd sort of laid how much he cultivated celebrity and then he talked about how he was really a surfer, all his life, and that meant basically he'd spent so much time doing surfer things and it was so deep in him that he couldn't escape it. Not sure that makes sense. Just wanted to say SS should embrace being as surfer as the surfiest of the surfers and give us more of all his experience and perspective on the subculture. Take it from the man.

I agree with you Sterling about the digital age and the lack of human connection. I see it and discuss it a lot with my students and youth- it’s all about the fact that through text there is no INFLECTION.
