Да все верно показывает. Стойка - разворот корпуса - шаг разноименной ногой - удар. Именно так отрабатывает этот технический элемент мой 7 летний сын. Посмотрите на моем канале, как это у нас получается. Будет интересны ваши замечания.

My volley game absolutely sucks. I can never put way floaters, can't hit the overhead with any consistency or power, and pop up the backhand volley. I think maybe my problem is I'm stepping sideways instead of forward into the volley. I saw another video that said you should contact the ball in front of you *before* your front foot hits the ground - that way you have the forward momentum but aren't messing up your volley with the shock of your foot hitting the ground. Another thing I'm not sure about - some videos say punch and stick, like this one, while other say have a relaxed wrist and let the racket rebound backward. Thoughts?

You have about a 24" swing motion on your volley. Do you recommend that?
@WilliamBrownGuitar

Agreed, he's got a substantial swing; some are closer to 3 feet. It's more than a punch, but this is probably the most common volley "swing" type.

Thanks for your post. I'm really struggling trying to simplify my volley. Tried the "do nothing" (block back) approach but end up with sitters. Went to the ball machine this morning, walked away frustrated.

I am sorry but the wall analogy is wrong. Should we just stop or block forehands, backhands and serves? It is not that hard to go 15 inches forward pass the impact spot. It is not a swing it is not stopping abruptly. The wall does not return the ball with a lot more pace. We in the USA have been teaching this ridiculous no power block for way too long. And we watch pros and say do not do that because they have incredible hand eye coordination and we do not. BS.

+imateapot51 Let's assume that you are not just trolling. This old video is designed for beginners and provides simple guidance for correcting the most common mistakes that beginners seem to struggle with in USA or any country. More advanced players may not find the video to be very helpful with their particular game, but most advanced players would not be watching KZbin for video instructions.

This is ridiculously outdated. I don't like saying this too often but look at how the pros prepare for volleys. Nobody should be holding their racquets out stiff like that. It's not a matter of preference because how it's shown on this video is inefficient and just not smart. Racquet should be closer to the body with the tip up and leaning more towards the opposite shoulder because that'll help reduce unnecessary movements and protect against body shots

reddiez The point is to attack the ball with the racket out in front in stead of hitting it closer to your body. Whether you hold it out in front and hit or hold it in and then move it out makes no difference.

+reddiez Again if you listen to the beginning of the lesson Jim talks about the common mistakes beginners an club players make. The idea behind holding the racquet in front is to prevent swinging and to hit the ball in front. Great job coach and thanks always.
