I really enjoyed this episode! Kelly was an awesome choice. Clearly intelligent and enthusiastic, not to mention considerate towards her assistant and model. Well done everyone who was involved in this episode!
@Thirsty_Fox12 жыл бұрын
It's quite nice! It's the camera body that actually determines and controls the focus... So it knows whether or not you're in focus. It just won't do it for you on manual lenses!

Probably one of my favorite videos you guys have done. Keep up the great work.

The woman has confident to speak and ask the model to do what she want. As for the man he did it without complaining. In the end of this video, Kai spoke something we can learn. This is helpful

Excellent! Not fazed by the heap of equipment and truckload of technical jargon. Takes it all in and starts shooting. Very interesting to see how two related professions interact in this manner. This could be a very helpful way of bridging gaps in communication and help understanding.

Mark is actually a friend of a friend of mine many years back in school in Canada. I met him once a long time ago. He had a humble start. He's more down to earth than the top photographer in Hong Kong, I heard. Does Kai even know how to use and setup those professional lighting equipment???

Some nice Zeiss lenses and the shuttersound of the 5D mark II. I'm still waiting for the Zeiss Makro Planar 100mm f/2 review, maybe in a comparison to the Canon 100L of Nikon 105/2.5

I'm coming down on the side of the model in this one -- I think she did a better job than many "pro" photographers I've encountered. I think she's got a good eye -- and should be encouraged.
@marsmitsu13 жыл бұрын
@richiepowa hi, on a full frame body like the 5D it is actually easy to see what's in focus. used my zeiss 50mm makro-planar with it and pretty much every shot was in focus. it takes time to get used to but definitely possible. even if it's slightly off the large depth of field will compensate. you can get a split prism focusing screen and that will certainly assist the focusing.

Great vid. Mark is excellent teacher. He makes any episode informative. I like the concept. There are too many disrespectful models that think having a big ass gives them the right to disrespect profiles. I have seen countless profiles on model sites that say things like "I can take the same pictures with a disposable camera" and the worst part is photogs still kissing ass.

There is a lot more to being a good model than just having the look. I was kinda hoping this video would have gotten more into the technical side of modeling. I think more photographers could benefit from a little experience on the other side of the lens.

@freddymusico The specific example here looked like Adobe Bridge, but the software provided with your camera should let you do this too. It is called 'tethered shooting'. The Canon EOS Utility software will definitely let you do it, and I regularly use that. I'm not sure about Nikon, etc. You just need to connect the camera with the USB cable and start shooting.

She was missing the moment... Over and over again. he tried to tactfully tell her but she kept ignoring him. Very patient guy.

I don't own a 5D, but with manual lenses on my XSi, the body will beep (if I have beeping enabled of course, i usually don't) on a half press of the shutter button to tell you that you are in focus. The red focus lights in the viewfinder also light up to tell you which parts it thinks is in focus. I assume it's the same for the 5D

@SillyEddyPhotography I also use the Canon EOS Utility software. The only problem that I have with it is the USB cord that came with my camera (about 3-4 foot long) which is really not enough especially when I shoot outside and my laptop is on the floor. Do you know where I can get a longer cord? Maybe I have to switch to the mini-HDMI?
