One of the best channels for "useful" PT information. I wish more videos were available.

Thank you, absolutely 100% useful for production broadcasts and podcasts, for fading in/out of themes, intros/extros, and music beds. Also, to increase/decrease the selective volume of a laugh or noise that's "stepping on" another interview subject. I was thrilled to find this educational, refreshing posting, as I haven't voiced or produced a Pro Tools session in a while.

Hey Paul, thanks so much for these videos, they've been so helpful! I would love to see a video where you go through the different LUFS broadcast standards for KZbin, TV, etc. And then how you actually achieve those levels in the mastering stage! I've read a lot about it but it would be great to see it being done step by step rather than flailing around in the darkness like I am right now haha. Many thanks

Thanks Jacob. That's a good suggestion. I was thinking of doing a loudness orientated video anyway so I'll do this soon.

This is great and very topical for me at the moment. This was very useful. Currently I am going through the gain staging step to my recording process so this is useful. But I do have a question, if I may be so bold to ask :::: I just recorded some drums and one element I can't stop clipping no matter how I change the clip gain fader. It seems the element of the drums was recorded too hot. If clip gain can't be adjusted to reduce or stop clipping how do I replace the element without getting the performer back in, which I can't do? I hope it isn't too much to ask...
@paulmaunder30072 жыл бұрын
If you mean that the recording itself is clipped, turning it down with clip gain will just reduce the level but the clipping is in the recording itself. Assuming it isn't absolutely terrible clipping, you should be able to fix it with a de-clip plug-in. One is included with iZotope RX Elements. Acon Digital also do one. It's included with their Acoustica software.

@@paulmaunder3007 Thankyou, I’ll give it a go! The overall drums recording is good! But this one snare keeps clipping into the red.

Do you have another clip selected when pasting clip gain? Try copying and pasting with the shortcuts and see if that makes a difference.

so if I have three chorus parts (todays singers just copy paste one performance) and I want to fix the clip gains on the first chorus and then past my work to the others or have the editing be mirrored to the same parts on the other chorus how do I manage that?

Hi Paul, can you do another video on drawing clip gain in multiple clips? For example, there are a pair of mics that need the same clip automation and the best way is to draw it simultaneously. Thanks :)
@jimreeves55010 ай бұрын
Maybe copy clip gain from one track and paste to destination track? You've probably found an answer by now. Even now, dynamic clip feature is per track and does not respect grouped or highlighted tracks. lots of great tips here.

Does anyone know if it is possible to automatically make a small fade in the Clip gain when using the Option + shift + scroll on a specific range on a clip? The immediate change in Clip gain that PT creates by default will result in a click sometimes, so you have to drag the fades by hand which takes a huge amount of time if youre doing dialogue :(
