Pro Tools is the only DAW that doesn't allow individually selectable software monitoring. Here's now to work around that with your Apollo.

That said, while your trick helps, it still doesn't quite feel like "zero" latency, compared to monitoring through Console, or even my previous setup with an RME Fireface. With RME I could get a zero latency feel monitoring in Pro Tools with Low Latency Monitoring turned OFF, and several active plugins on the track. Even tracking vocals. I can't figure out why an older I/O (RME) manages to go into PT with no detectable latency, but the newer UAD stuff requires you to either monitor through their software, or do these elaborate DAW workarounds. Any insight there? Is it the famed RME drivers, or is there more to it?

Nice. Any idea if there is a similar checkbox in Studio one? Txs

With Studio One you can just mute the channel in Apollo Console and set it to print (red light), then monitor enable the channel in Studio One.

can you use this when recording vocals

Sure. Just depends on your sensitivity to latency.
