Pro Tools send and Insert bypass shortcuts

There are several ways to go about bypassing plug-ins and sends in a Pro Tools session. This video gives a quick runthrough of a number of keyboard shortcuts which allow you to quickly toggle sends and inserts on and off across all tracks or selected tracks and also toggle plug-ins on and off by plug-in type.

The Modulation plugins bypass shortcut is Shift-W mostly because it couldn't be Shift-M, this last one being the Mute shortcut :)

Great as usual ... but the one reason I googled this apparently doesn't exist? I want to be able to use shortcut keys to bypass a single plugin while mixing, meaning an open GUI plugin I'm working on. I can see a work around of having that plugin by itself in an A-E or F-J area, but that cuts down on available insert slots. BTW, I also wish that a plugin could be made 'inactive' as well as bypassed. That would be great for DSP load with UAD.

I don't believe there is a shortcut for bypassing the currently displayed plug-in unfortunately. You can Command click the plug-in insert to bypass it, but that of course involves using the mouse. Likewise, there's no shortcut to make a plug-in inactive, although you can right click and make it inactive, or you can click on a plug-in while holding down Control and Command (on mac) to make it inactive. While inactive, it will consume no system resources and won't contribute to the system delay.

Paul, 'tis a pity. It would be so useful. You'd think that with the shortcut Shift + Num Pad 2 to toggle bypass Inserts A-E on a selected track they could have added the letter for the insert slot, e.g., Shift + Num Pad 2 + A. Maybe hard to reach all the keys, but just sayin.'

it can be done with soundflow shortcuts, but this shortcut is kinda laggy, I mean, it takes time after u press the shortcut to take an effect
