Pro Tools setup with Allen & Heath GS-R24M

Hi Shea, you're right, it is very similar with R16, the only difference is you have to run the DAW Control app in the background which is a very simple process. You no longer need to buy Bomes and the setup is now very simple, the app creates the HUI MIDI devices and takes care of the translation. Hope you enjoy using it.

I HOPE THEY DO NOT DISCONTINUE THIS BOARD,I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE!!!...I WANTED THE NUCLEUS SSL BOARD BUT I THINK I BETTER GET THIS ONE,IT JUST SEEMS LIKE THE RIGHT THING TO DO. I HAVE A GUT FEELING ABOUT THIS BOARD AND YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE GUT FEELINGS.

This is basically the same with the Zed r16 and the new DAW control software i take it? Had murders trying to get the Biome translator working for about 2 years, now i see there is a Daw Control app....Will try this out with protools 11 today and see how this works. Thanks

Hi, The ZED-428 has a stereo send and return USB audio interface. You are able to connect it to Protools or any other DAW for that matter, but you are not going to get the same amount of I/O that the GSR24 offers. In fact, you only get one stereo send (two mono) and one stereo return. Also, please note that the ZED-428 does not have MIDI capabilities. Best regards Luke

So I'm having a problem running a UA 4-710 with the GSR24M. Im running the optical out on the 710 to the 1-8 optical in on the FW card. The 710 to channels are assigned to 26-32 and I cant figure out how to change that. So now I cant use the main mix bus channels 31/32 because they are being occupied by the 710. Is there any way to assign the 8 710 channels to a different set of channels on the FW card? Preferably 1-8?

Hi there, looks like we've already responded to your support email. To confirm: In FW+ADAT Mode ADAT Channels 1-8 override Stereos 1&2, Valve pre 1&2, Master L-R in both directions. I'm afraid this can't be changed. We recommend using analogue connections from the 4-710d to the GS-R's insert points. Hope this helps. Thanks. Harry.

Hi! The Qu-16 uses an ASIO/WDM USB driver for Windows based systems and uses the DAW Control Driver for MIDI control. So there are some similarities, but also some major differences. Hi @dawnoftheshredfit, This configuration would be slightly different using the Zed22FX. The Zed22FX connects to your PC via USB rather than firewire. This is done from the USB B port of the console to a USB C connection on your PC. The USB audio interface of the Zed22FX allows you to transfer audio to and from the Zed USB device. Within Pro Tools in your Audio MIDI Setup, the Zed interface will appear as USB Audio CODEC in the list of audio devices.
